02 Polo Tdi Problem.... Please Help......

I've just bought a 02 Polo 1.9 TDI Sport.

However since I got it I've been having the following problem:-

This problem seems to be isolated to the dash pod and on most occasions seems to be when slowing down particularly at roundabouts. All other components on the dash seem unaffected by this as the stereo doesn’t skip and the engine doesnt stall or miss

All dash lights come on and all gauge needles flicker down to the off position, then within a few seconds return to normal. This also resets all the information on the dash except the total mileage reading?

On one occasion the power steering light stayed on after this had happened, this went off after restarting the car.

On several occasions the car appears to lose power after this happens, not a complete loss though, just seems to go into a limp home mode and the turbo doesn’t seem to want to come onto boost.

Also on one occasion whilst driving at night the dash pod lights went off for a few seconds, but did not affect any of the lights on the centre console or any of the exterior lights.

Anyone any ideas??
