just when i thougfht i was getting somewere i deceied to rip the rear carparts out to find more rot ,,, didnt look bad until i gave it a few wacks with the hammer

eqq9at.jpg

2gwt92a.jpg

there was more too below the seat mounts so thought chuff it , i rip it out

2rc1xqq.jpg

poped a plate on

mcdyxk.jpg

then bent the gearstick to save catching the dash

23us8d2.jpg

quick fit of the carpet ,

then realised like i idiot , i need a rear carpet , too lol ,ill make a mount for the gear surround to tidy that bit up too

  • Author

right not mutch to this after , due to wheather

so , thought id modify the mk1 heater controls to fit the mk4 controls and they work a treat

316ox6v.jpg

then refitted it

ok3csn.jpg

and wired up the cig lighter lol (may come in for something)

and double checked all the dash wireing all seems fine

ejwzvd.jpg

next i need a decent steering wheel i reckon

  • Author
wow... just wow! what a guy, some skills serious skills! i reckon a wood sectioned leather wheel woudl eb cool to match your 4 motion knob :-)

i think ill have it plastic coated instead as if i spray it will rub off quick,

tuck a risk and bought this with removeable boss, as i thought its come from a mk1 , should be ok for the caddy(i think)

346ksnc.jpg

and oil cooler arrived too ,, more things to fit lol

16kn880.jpg

343s11j.jpg

and bit of black spray poped on and refit

2vdff5l.jpg

2czpms4.jpg

right thought id better start on the seat frame again didnt want it ripping out of the floor so add some decent 2x2 box and rips the old seat mounts out

2ynmrgn.jpg

17fs55.jpg

then made a decent strong box for the seat mount that shouldnt go any were soon ,and add some chassi strengh too ,

2j51kxi.jpg

then add to make a few adjustments as I'm 6ft 5 and not a lot of room with the size of the dash in a caddy ,,

ztd8iv.jpg

20r6x5c.jpg

have to get more steel to finsh the other side lol

i was looking under the wear the old leaf springs used to be and the chassi and wasnt happy with it , so , it had to be ripped out ,

as I've now realiseing i need a stronger chassi

w1xt6s.jpg

2hyl1ys.jpg

2mi3rqt.jpg

fits bang on inside the caddy chassi ,

35l594p.jpg

carnt see that buggar going any were soon

  • Author

not mutch due to coming down with the useal man flu ,,lol

so managed to finish off the welding ading more strengh to the chassi too

33o7a55.jpg

so decided I'm going to make a fuel tank on the rear as this will help with weight transfor as well/once I've finshed off the other side too

2ytrbeu.jpg

so ill not be needing a fuel flap anymore so ill weld that up as well

dg06r9.jpg

and nice clutch pot arrived too ,unsure if ill use it thow

2d1judf.jpg

dam gispsy/pikys tryed nicking my caddy yesterday afternoon , they knocked on the door and just because no one was in they wrapped a chain around it and pulled it across the yard and wer just about to grab it and thow it on the rear of there wagen when lucky a neibougher spotted, them , so it was time to move it and fast , lucky they only damaged the towbar/discs and covers along with the engine sump , ,,as aparnlty pikeys have a law which is any vechical with no wheels belongs to them ,, wait till i catch up the the fu....ing assholes

i blow the stand alone ecu ,start of last week, with a coil back feed grrr , so , more re strip of wireing and repairing ,but after a week ,managed to refit the parts and pop a quick few map/setings to get it runing ,(stressfull with settings lol/

55ow1x.jpg

then thought might as well add the wideband , another headack ,because of were the exhaust is i had to make a hole back of the bulk head (2 layers of steel ) then because of the large plug , had to attempt to resolder stainless wire (nighmare /with a soldering iron lol) now sorted

8zr141.jpg(still no gauges working thow/speedo/works lol

1t8v15.jpg

dypw5k.jpg

thought id add the led for the wideband heater flashers til its ready , works a treat

33m4ino.jpg

short video of the ms video ,, needs more tuning ,but now main problems are sorted as well as i wire had come off in the ms contector causeing stress

well managed to sort a few bits this after , first made some fuel lines for the caddy

2cifalv.jpg

mr95sh.jpg

next deceied to chop the fuel flap out the boady

213grjs.jpg

rare site lol, inside ,rot free

4gnhcg.jpg

then went around the other side and chopped another hole out for the to refit the feul flap

wl1wsm.jpg

not bad for a trail cut ,there was a slight gap so ,thought id add a filler rod , and welded up nicely

2zq4w44.jpg

bwwtv.jpg

quick weld up

24bm6c7.jpg

and grinded off

2hppyqt.jpg

then oppss first thought id welded it wrong because its upside down ,must have got a bit carryed away , but i pref it to open this way lol ,little late now anyway

ogdzmc.jpg

then a quick filler neck start on the pipe

256frly.jpg

Think he used a plasma cutter to cut it out, thats why its so thin.

  • Author
awesome! thats one thin ass grinding disk mate haha! why did you cut it out 1 side and refit in the other btw?

just marked it around the fuel flap and cut it out with a thin cutting disc , same with other side so i could replace , old hole with the other piece of steel ,,plazma cutter was better on stainless and saved a lot of time ,, :-D

  • Author
ahh fair enough :D looks great, i thought it was abit streight for a plasma cutter....

Good luck

its not a problem getting straight/curved cuts with the plazma too ,, i.e fuel tank :-)
