How i left it 6-7hrs later:

So far i have removed loads of engine bits and painted them, cleaned round the engine bay and bonnet. Then i worked on the suspension, brakes, anti roll bar, steering rack etc and they are nearly all finished painting, just want to do the calipers 'Power' red  and a few bits of silver. Once jet washed i can then spray the inner arch white again. Put orange side indies on now and got a new orange front indie. Clean alot of the grime off the bottom of the engine and gearbox.

Probably going to buy new dizzy cap, rotar arm, thermostat, temp senders and a few vacum hoses to make it sweet.

Need to fit the new windscreen (Had to remove two from the scrappy as the first one shartered in my hands "Ouch") and glovebox and other niggles.

Hopefully the front end and engine will be sorted in the next few days and then i can spin it round and do the underside of the rear, after that out comes the G3 and t-Cut to remove some blemishes and general cleaning.

It's like Changing Rooms with you, only with cars............................should be a tidy clean car when you have finished wiping it with a wet rag......I await to see you wearing floral cuffs like Lawrence

My hero :-D

Are you going to tell us how much you robbed him for Kerrly?

As you say though, you allready agreed on a price. He should of done a bit of research before naming his price

My god it's a clean one, respect for keeping it standard. Be great to see it in from factory perfection. Although I would consider subtle lowerage only.

In Practical Classics there's a little feature on the Mk1 Scirocco. The mk2 polo coupe has very similar lines to the early scirocco obviously the Italian Giugiario influence. Love most of his designs to be honest.

Well the car has cost me £305, £300 for the car and £5 for the floral shirt i bought at Matalan on the way home when i was thinking about paint colours.

Its cheap but its nothing like what peeps get away with when they buy Mk1 Golfs of old ladies for £50

haha yeh most of my cars if not all of them have been bargains

glad to see its getting some love, you love your speedy turnaround painting flex's. love it. I've got sutff to paint, and paint, just no motive to make things look proper tidy heh

£300 seemed pretty fair i i have/want to spend more on it. Probably if i had a job i would have paid more but i used part of my overdraft to pay for this, only on £48 a week

Painting the front wheels right now and then i will go back round the garage again this afternoon.

I paid £300 for my GT with 12mths MOT and i think a coupe s is worth the same or less then a GT.

was the coupe s the top model for the mk2s? (apart from the ultra rare g40 edition in germany i think it was)

Some great work bud, soon be there.

Yep its keeping me busy at the weekend, have no time in the week as i work 12-15hr night shifts. Ordered some engine parts: Themostat, temp senders, fuel pump, vacum advance, dizzy cap, rota arm, spark plugs.

Next Sunday I'm going to finish the engine bay and front end, get the engine going and spin it around in the garage so i can do the underside of the rear and the wheels.

Its booked into the garage on the 5th of May for them to play with the carb and replace vacum hoses etc, once back from the garage my mate can put the new windscreen in.

Then on the 9th of May i will be taking it to its first show entered in the show n shine competition.

Yep in the UK. In Europe the Coupe S had the same engine as the Mk3 Polo GT and of course the G40 version.

what's the best engine you could get in a mk2 in this country at the time, surely not the g40 or gt engines?

The 55bhp 1.3 carb engine found in the coupe S is the best engine that came in UK mk2 Polo's.
