Depends on the design,and estate conversions of cars never designed to be estates tended to look awful.

But the passat has always been a good example of the estate looking better than the saloon,imo.

(The B3 shape,popular in this thread so far,was unusual in that its side-impact bars are on the outside of the door).

Visibility is better in most examples,aerodynamics can be better,and whilst they dont need to be bigger or heavier than a saloon version they offer more useable space - some have even had additional rear child seats open out the boot floor.

Estates just make more sense,which always helps in good design.

Estates totally rock!! Especially old passats and mk4/5 polos. Chuck a mattress in the back and your sorted for the shows!

my mates got a 'Ssat B5 estate on air-ride it is seriously pimp he was at GTi spring festival with the car decked and a set of filled out overalls and trainers under it to look like a person :p

I'm propper feeling passat estates the B5.5 shape the ones with chrome trim and indicators in the side mirrors..slammed with some rims looked the nuts.. ever since me mate harms had his burgandy red one i've always wanted one..
