i think I'm going to contest against it, but i need to know the court costs as i cant afford to lose!

my insurance isnt void, it just might cost more next year when i renew as ill have to tell them that i have 3 points.

i just think he must of been shitting me if he believed it wwas fine to let me drive home...

a fine wouldnt have been so bad, although i still wouldnt be happy. but points will stay with me for the next 3 years :(

Mate the only proof you need that he didn't do his job properly is there! He let you continue to drive the car, in that condition, which he had deemed dangerous and inappropriate for road use! Surely that warrants gross misconduct!

that's a good point toby, although emosavvy might be right about the admission? although you could argue that this wasn't explained to you, if you've not be made aware of your rights then surely its inadmissible?

Court costs wont be that much i dont think, 60 quid usually for traffic offences. You can offer to pay them in segments too though (0% interest), start low and offer 10 pound a month

Id deffo fight it, as said, he pretty much let you break the law if he thought the car was dangerous and let you drive off in it

friggin hell just read this. police are cracking down on the whole vw euro thing now as they're not thick and ready to screw up as many as they can for it! i wouldn't be surprised if they started to wait outside shows and get u as soon as u hit the road lol.

there is a bit on the end of the ticket which says that i can file for a court hearing.

but I've really been thinking about this and i know its a worthy cause as i feel that the police officer wasnt a mechanic and so doesnt have to skills to forsee whether a car is dangerous or not, especially as he couldnt find the "bush" that was faulty in my steering, and the fact that he let me drive home. i just really dont want to lose a court case and have to pay the fees :(

waslhc - anywhere i cant find out for definate that it would only cost me £60 in fees if i lose ?

Been thinking about the supposed worn bush, Has your car had an advisory on a recent MOT for a worn bush. If so that would explain why they were looking for something that didnt exist :?

If so how do they know the bush is dangerous if they don't even know what it is? and couldn't have been that dangerous if just an advisory.

If you protest it and go to court the police will need to produce evidence that they dont have and case should be thrown out :-D

MOT in november showed that only a new bulb was needed, and was replaced. I'm tempted to go to court agin now.. especially after learning the costs - i just dont want 3 points!!

car was not MOT'd with these wheels or the loose battery though..

and they will know that how?

its not about if your car was legal, its about if this copper was in the wrong, if he was then your car could of been on fire when he pulled you and it wouldn't mean shit. if its proved he was lying then all charges will be thrown out because he has broken the law ;)

i went to my local citizen's abvice place today and they said that it was mad and referred me onto a lawyer under the fact that they said it was "police harrasment".

i spoke to the lawer for a while explaining the whole story and all of the events, he said that its rare that i should get that kind of penalty for something like that, and still be allowed to drive home - but as heavyhanded as it is, he strongly advised me not to take it to court as he didnt believe that anything would change, id just have court costs to pay aswell as the fine. what he did say though was: "sometimes you just have to take things as they come, but dont worry, everybody gets thier "comeupances"" (spelling??)

so bad times overall and looks like I'm gonna have to bend over this time. but ill be on the ball in future, i know a place where police hide in bushes to catch people speeding, I've decided I'm gonna film them doing it and send it in with a complaint, just to be a pain in the arse.

sorry to hear bout you troubles mate. i got pulled in me first car because i wasnt the guy the copper was waiting for :?

my fiesta had its exhaust kicked by sum mindless lil twirp resluting in in a 1.3 fiesta sounding like a monster of a car. he pulled me cus he was waiting for a regular boy racer an had showed his blues for me an the lad had slowed down. he comes over to me car an ses " i was looking foward to a good chase today shit head whys your skip sound like this" to which my reply was "skip :?"

any who he tried to get me for disturbing the peace an breaching the max volume of a vehicle thing but i had proof i was on me way to a garage to fix it. a minor victory but a victory none the less oh an got pulled christmas day going for beer :D
