tried putting the new rubber mount on today but the quality of it was very poor.when i tightened the metal plate down there was gaps everywhere even with gasket paste on,so ill be taking that back to gsf at the weekend

anyway i took a picture show where my fuel lines are going etc

the metal t peice on the feed is where i had a pressure guage but didnt realise id need a vacume one to measure it d'oh

I reckon this is what we need although I don't see a DMTR kit just this DMTL one? might be same?. I'm hoping to give my carb a service at some point with one of these kits. Fingers crossed mines running fine for now.

Looks like you need a swirl pot in there like Gaz had. Easy to get a hold of from pierburgs or other carbs. I've probably got one somewhere.

The service kit has enough in it to do either the DMTR and DMTL, there's very little difference between the two. I've had a few kits off him and serviced two or three of these carbs and there's always loads of spare new bits left over at the end.

I see you have a T-piece instead of a swirl pot, it's better than nothing but it will still be delivering fuel at pressure to the carb when it doesn't want it. The metal swirl pots off mk2 golfs are pretty good. If you fancy a new one they're about £30(!) from GSF.

had a mega balls up today.ran out of petrol and I'm now constantly gettin blocked jets.

No but it might be a good idea to use some blue hylomar on it if you think it's leaking around there.

See in the picture the rubber block on the adaptor plate on mine which is more like plastic has a gasket type surface on both sides. As Gaz says I've put a smear of Blue hylomar on both sides before fitting. As far as I can make out the kit from fast roads seems to have new gaskets for the block.

cool i but some on the other day when i tried to swap the rubber base and found it was crap.also when i rock the carb the engines idle changes so the rubber base is definitly shot.

Not that it really matters but did you fit your fuel filter in the dark too? It'll still filter fine but I thought they went the other way round, so you can see any crud building up on the outside of the pleated skirt. I think they even have an arrow for flow direction.

Lol, you know I've changed that filter like 4 times after running real low on fuel and getting a lot of sedament coming through and it seems I was clearly not thinking straight the last time It.

I remember having an argument about what way round it should go with a neighbour, I could lie and claim he switched it the other way but no it was me lol.

got the new rubber base on today.seems to run ok now,I've yet to take it for a proper drive.

shes missfiring a little on tickover but i reckon thats down to the plugs or leads

now the car seem to take a little longer to get back to its ilde when i rev it and also backrires a little when slowing town.

am i right in thinkin this is and air leak somewhere on the inlet?

yep sounds like an air leak for sure

cool.the gsf rubber mounts are crap.you cant tighten the carb down properly because the metal threaded sleave pulls up thru the rubber.

I'm gona try dril a hole frm the bottom of each threaded metal sleave so i can keep them held down by screwing a nut underneath each one

Think they've had adaptor plates with that base in stock? they might have a spare you never know?

its deffo the rubber base thats giving me greif,I've had 2 from gsf now and they are utter sh*te.

That is off an 86 mk2 square 1L engine. These were German made cars and parts like this alloy rocker were discontinued not long after that when they were made in Spain. I painted it red but has cracked a bit with heat, should have used high temp paint. Some folk have polished them.

I think they are found on early golfs also?
