250! thats quite high but like you say they are heavily modified.. i have only ever seen the afh go to around 130bhp i want to hear more with higher power outputs.

Jez's AFH got modded to 1.6L with a bunch of other "spesh" tuning parts and it only just about made it over 130 I think. Bit more with the NOS

my old 1.4 16v was around 135-40bhp.

it's high, because its wrong. Berg cup cars do not use an AFH for a start off, the sorg motors are a 1.3 bottom end with what looks like either: a motorbike head or a sorg one off casting. peak power of 205bhp from a 1299cc motor that costs in the region of £5k+

Spec?

Dogwood had a 1390cc with 185bhp and then whent 1600cc for 208bhp ........ but believe he has / is going back to 1390cc but aiming for 215ish with some additional mods (reverse head) . There is a lot of discussion on the tuning thread on club lupo.

Chris, Berg cars are running 1300cc motors with AFH heads, with some mods to the cam belt pully and water pump. I believe that Berg regs have changed and that is why there is a lot of 1300cc motors for sale as the class size has gone up to 1400cc. Power is no where near 250, your correct it's around 200 - 210.

ALright david, the guy who won last year (Yellow mk1, red interior) has 1299cc, and its definitely not an AFH head. I got sent some pictures of a Berg rennen bare engine built by sorg and it had some sort of motorbike head on it for definite, defo not an AFH head (i went and checked!) i'll see if i can find the picture
