I think you've said its a MK2,on a Polo site (all be it in general cars forum),and i get in here to find a bloody Golf..

Genral car chat i.e. discussion of cars in general so I don't think it really matters that it's a golf now does it...If there was a polo on automodder.com then I'd of done a polo but there isn't therefore I did a mk2 golf...

Nothing wrong with a Golf,particularly a real version of that one because there's a slammed MK2 on Lenzos sliding around MK and it looks great.

Bit different in that its champagne gold,five door,and the wheel centres are black.

Still,it could've been a MK2 Golf,yes. Or a MK2 Astra. Or a MK2 Escort. Who knows.

Its an almost media attitude,see. Its precisely the mentality which has resulted in people saying 'nice Golf mate' to me at petrol stations.

The Golf bods,or particularly Golf biased VW media,seem to think 'MK2' is a moniker they own and its just not on.

Admittedly,if someone at a classic Ford show said 'a MK2 mate' it'd be presumed to be an Escort. I wonder how the Fiesta bods would feel about that? Its just not cricket,see.

the fact that it took you longer to write your past reply than to click on the link and then click the back button is sad? if it was in the polo chat section then you would have reason to complain, but its not its in the general section.

I know that and I can appreciate that with him being a Mk2 Polo owner it must be frustrating people saying nice golf to him but tbh there's nothing I can think of that will change the mentality of assuming you're gonna see a golf when you hear mk2 unless of course you are an enthusiast of Ford etc...But seriously if people are mistaking mk2 polo's for mk2 golf's then they're idiots

My grandad was one But i agree,though not everyone are car nerds.

Still,its the misrepresentation toward the Polo by those who could,whilst raising the Golf to fame,that put our little car in the shade its in.
