power weight ratio of a stock mk3 2.0 8v = 103 bhp/ton

power weight ratio of a slightly modded 80bhp GT 1.3 = 104 bhp/ton

Yeah and do you not think if i wanted a " slightly modified" Polo GT i would have bought one?? I wasnt posting new pictures of my car for people to slate it..... Although I'm guessing the majority of you have never driven a mk3 and therefore you dont have a clue how they drive...... I personally missed the comforts i had with my polo and previous golf when i had my mk2 GTi, So i thought that within my budget the Mk3 was a sensible option and i honestly do not regret it.... Fair enough if you have driven a mk3 GTi then you can say what you like about performance... If not then please pipe down.

Starting to think i made a major mistake posting a Golf on a Polo Forum...... Think its time for me to leave!!

yeh but your forgetting my friend

95% of people on here wont be satisfied unless your driving a mk3 polo fully stripped out with no dash lowered 120mm on some rediculous 10x13 inch wheels that cant get up a drive let alone be driven normally

would rather go as fast as the 80bhp in full leather smiling while I'm warm without water leaking through a shitty rusted battery tray and smiling coz I'm generally comfy rather than surrounded by rattles. fair does on you mate

thats why i dont have a VW lol

Nice, my least favourite golf shape, but a golfs a golf :D

How much it set you back?

My mum wondered why I wrote this on the back of my landy, now I can show her why.

Think there needs to be some stickers made up, I would definately have one

What,like.. 'Id rather crash a PT Cruiser than drive a MK3 Golf' ..? :smirk:

Seriously what is your issue? were you touched as a child by a mk3?? What is the point in leaving negative comments....... do me a favour and fuck off!

No,but i was at least given a sense of humour - What, you only want a certain type of reply? Like any comment as long as you like it? Dont leave yourself open to it,then.

You need to chill out,man.

By the way,i supported your blue/white-walled wheels on your 6n when others didn't,but i dont suppose you remember that.

I'm more than open to criticism, but when its "ugly, lardy" about someone's newly purchased car then i don't really see how that is funny....? I'm all ears if you want to explain? I'm not here to start an argument or anything, And yes i do remember lots of good comments about the 6n i had... and at the time i really appreciated them.

Maybe its time to drop this, and next time i post pictures up ill choose a more Golf Mk3 friendly forum :-D

Mk3 golfs can look good with some simple little changes. Its a good base. Always options for more power in the future when insurance allows. Interiors in them are cool too.

Don't get mad a negetive comments matey. Some people just yanking your chain. lighten up. Their words won't damage you.

Driving round in a shit mk3 golf might though......(**jokes)

:-D

i agree with mikey, if you cant handle negative comments dont post it up.

I've had my fair share,it seems normal for people to poke fun at my pride and joy,a mate in the pub calls it the wooden car (ancient airfix kit..). Nobody understands,so i know the feeling.

But i couldn't care less - if i did,id be pissed off all the time. And who'd suffer for that? Exactly.

Fuck 'em.

So your Golf,i dont like it. You created a post for the view, and i dont like it. So what.

Have i even ever driven one? No. I've driven a VR6 highline a few times, and was very disappointed. It should've been faster but i could feel the weight. The cable-shift gearchange was like stirring soup, the power steering detached me from the car,but not as far as id have liked.. It just felt like a sloppy, lardy disappointment - even though it actually went quite well if you held the revs.

So I've made my mind up on that, really. Which is really ignorant of me. But still,id have gone for another MK2 Golf,a better one like the basic '85 i used to love driving, there you go.

Could've done worse - could've bought a PT Cruiser..

Seriously - Hope you enjoy your car though, whatever it is,that's all its about.

Nah i wasnt pissed off, Just didnt like the way it was criticised.....But after that bad experience i can see why you dont like them, Good job everyone is different.

I did love driving the Mk2, But after seeing the result of a 30mph crash it put me off them... not saying my mk3 is ncap 5 stars but its a bit better.

Cheers for your reply tho mate, and i agree its just about enjoying it..... Starting to think i over reacted a bit :lol:
