Fancy a change to the sidelights... need a bit of help.

Featured Replies

So I had this little idea, sure it has been done before by someone here.

I want to move my side lights into the indicator pod instead of the head light pod. So, in a marker light style, if I have my side lights on the indicator pod will light up.

So thats easy enough, I just put a hole in the unit for the bulb, no probs. i think the indicator will be fine as the orange light will be more powerful than the side light, so wont interfere with use of indicators.

Only problem is when I turn the ignition on, the main headlight bulb comes on very slightly as well. Is it possible to stop this from happening. So if I use sidelights (first click on the light switch) only side lights come on. If I move to second click, headlights come on.

I found a reply to a similar post below when I did a search (there is a novelty!):

I know what you mean and although not knowing how it is done on a Polo, I sorted it on my Old Pug.

There should be a relay (Dim-Dip) that can be taken out. Once you have done this just your sidelights will come on.

But I'm afriad i dont hve my haynes to hand so i cant tell you where the relay is.

Anyone got a bit more on this please?
