mk4 de-cat

well I've finished all exams jus waiting on raf to accept me so i have lots of time to spend on the polo. i have a plan to de-cat my mk4 just need to know from more experienced people if this will work! i already have a cat-back on my 1.4 8v, and I've seen a cheap down pipe and cat off a 1ltre for sale. if i get this pipe and get a stainless pipe made up from the flexipipe down to where the old middle silencer would have been (so in effect the matey at the exhaust place can make up a copy without putting the car on ramps), clamp it on, and keep my old cat so i can bolt in for next mot.

question is will the downpipe from a 1 litre fit on my car?

and will i loose back pressure from doing this?

if its not done properly would i loose performance?
