Stunning car. Not all to my tastes but why should it be? Love the bay and the bodywork. The amount of hours that must have gone into this is staggering and you seem to do it all at high speed too. Nice job!!

I'm fooking on it big time!

I've got the dummy trial roof - the 6n roof and all the parts, once dismantled I'm going to have the roof piece pressed into the 86c shape and start my dummy run.

once I'm happy with how I'm going to do it I'm gunna get the spot welder out and get it in

well he needs to pull his finger out then! I've been given a 6n openair roof complete - it would be very rude not to have a go.

i reckon it will be bloody easy to get it in aswell

it will be much easier using a complete roof for sure!! What shell will it be going on/in???

should be mcbummins mk2 in the dead of night :ninja: just for the look on his face.....

hahahahaha

well - the dummy roof it will goe in first on a lil home made jig - then I'm gunna jigsaw the hole out lol, once i have had the roof pressed flat enough to line up with the curve of the mk3 roof i will then cut the hole out on chloe and using a spot welder - weld in a supporting flange (cut from 6n roof) and tack this onto the existing roof rails which got chopped, then it should be a straight fit.....il just have to redesign my roof lining to fit the motor in and stuff, will then just repaint the roof in black

WELL!!!!

It would definitely be rude not to!

8-) 8-)

Chances are, you will get it in before me haha.

You have more skills and equipment than i do, and a head start with having the 6n roof.

I've figured out how mines going in now, atleast i think i have haha.

Bad think is, i started looking at it more and I'm unsure what to do with the cover. As its stupidly brittle.

I've emailed a place about getting a new cover, just awaiting on a reply with a price :(

I'm glad that atleast, i may have inspired you for doing this ;) You will, without a doubt, do a better job than me.

You certainly have more guts. I'm chopping up a car i paid £100 for... if it goes tits up, ahhwell... ill buy another

If yours goes tits up.. welll..... :crybaby:

Atleast ill have some sort of guidance if you do yours 1st 8-) haha

Dear Toby

Thank you for your enquiry.

We do not offer a mobile fitting service for this model therefore we would

require your car at our workshop for 1/2 day.

We can supply and fit a vinyl outer hood section for £450 including VAT and

a 1 year guarantee, we generally book 1-2 days ahead.

Regards

Tina

Eeek, hope your cover is decent Kiz

covers a fookin minter;-) and the motors all good aswell.

once I've got it all chopped up il get some photos up. i thought it would be a massive mission - but after taking it out of the 6n.....it realy aint that hard! you only have a massive square with round corners and a 1cm lip around the hole.

i haven't a clue where I'm gunna find somewhere with a large oven and a press to stamp this roof panel flat.... i might end up making something and driving over it hahahahaha

driving over it

You about this weekend at all kiz? Might pop up and have a look at the 6n roof if you don't mind?

I didn't get a great look at the one i had mine from, because it was too early and i was super tired, n couldn't mess about cus the bloke had work lol.

I'm just gunna bodge mine it, fuck knows how it will come out.

Weld the frame for the runroof to the roof, then tidy the cut up as bast as possibly and shove it in

Possibly some sort of re-enforcement around the edges n back.

How tight is the fit in the coupe? Many people have told me they don't fit into a coupe?

No oven, but my dad has just bought an absolute monster of a press for work. Its used for pressing and holding together wood flooring veneers. It's huge though. I can get the dimensions of the press once they have it delivered if you like?
