you got pictures and what happened to it didnt happen while driving did it

Don't you have 5 wheels? I thought one was on show in boot?

didnt happen while driving - I've spotted it while i was fitting something to the wheel arch, got a crack in it about 40cm long across one of the 5 spokes:-(

I've put it in the strip tank at work and its revealed that the centre has been repaired before but was very badly done and it has broken again in the same place.

its going down the materials lab tomorrow to have it checked for cracked elsewhere, then I'm going to dig the crack out and TIG it back, then i will have to dress it and repaint the centre.

My 5th wheel is just a chromed 4.5" fuch wheel with a stretched space saver on it - not a split rim and it looked bloody daft at the minute with it on the car

Ah fair enough man, good you hav access to the correct facilities to check it out properly so you can salvage it!

aww shit hope its salvageable man i know them wheels are rare although i did see some last week on a old porsche local to me i could sort you out with one or two if you need wink wink lol and i take it you mean 4cm or 40mm not 40cm otherwise you have mahoosive wheels

should have said 40mm, there not earth mover wheels lol.

id be surprised if they were the same wheels mate, theres 3 versions- more likely to be the 16" versions as my wheels were recalled hence why there rare. the later compomotive versions of them have more bolt holes then these aswell. i couldnt be any further in the poop with this

:-( sad face, hope you get it sorted Kiz. That wouldnt be the reason for recall would it? cracking...?

cheers dude, i think its just a killer blow at the minute as the show isnt far away and these wont be fixed by then, so its yet another year in the garage, and you can see where this is going to end up

end up never driven really??? shame...

whack any old rims on it and enjoy it for the rest of the summer... blatting down lanes... overtaking boy racers etc!

I know man, why get so upset? Just throw a set of wheels on it and enjoy!

Probably because he's put his heart and sole into this for over half a decade trying to get it exactly how he wants it. Not only is this another massive set back in terms of mojo, but he's also built the car to fit these wheels. He was saying on Facebook he would need some thing like 15x8+9j with offset of -9 and -14 for them to fit the car, he's not about doing shit half heartedly and he won't be getting the car out if he's not happy with it, and who could blame him when that car represents a good 6 years of hard graft, joy and frustration?

I've got a little something to do after work tomorrow kiz but if your about after i'll pop over for a tea and a chat if your gonna be about?

Precisely, he's put his "hear and sole" into it for over a decade, and now its going to be in the garage for another year?

Each to their own, but i'd just get some alright spare wheels and enjoy the sun while you can,

Its not half heartedly, its just common sence, no one is happy with their car, join the club!

But your not kiz, he's a perfectionist and if he ain't happy with the way it looks, it don't leave the garage. He built this car around those wheels, not just fitment wise but the whole look of the car. This may seem strange to some but if you take ten mins to talk to kiz at a show or meet it becomes clear how passionate he is about getting this car just how he wants it to be. This is the bloke that wasn't happy with his engine bay so after hitting two shows ripped the whole thing out (as well as a lot of the rest of the car) and started again from scratch

big debate... its whether someone wants to build a car to show their skills or to drive it hard.

Or either because it's sat in a garage haha ;)

How many times have you rushed a job or not done it how you want and then not be happy with it when its finished ..

I know exactly where kiz is coming from lol

Agree, to an extent. that you wanna do things properly and exactly how you want it.

But this can take too long, and surely it gets to the point where you cant be fucked with certain things and just want to drive it?

I'd agree if someone plowed into the side of it, or i did a bad spray job, or the engine looked shit.

But to keep it locked up for another year just because of a set of wheels, i dont get it.

Oh well. I understand he wants it right etc, just seems a shame for it to spend more time locked up, I'm sure another set of wheels could be fitted and it still look good like!

Or look better ;) the wheels are one thing i don't like about this car.

but hey, I'm all for taking time and getting it perfect. Things piss me off loads when they aren't done how i want them!

its nothing to do with the car not being perfect, the car has a shortened axle to accommodate the wheel, the front has been grafted to fit over the rims and has special adapters. i simply cant just go out and get another set to throw on it- 7j x15 ET 0 and 8J x 15 ET -9, i cant go out and buy a set to fit. + i dont have the money- i never have, I've done it all myself on this car because of this, I've become good at bodywork, welding etc as i practiced and received help at work and my job has helped me with the rest. i paid £400 for those wheels and didnt put tyres on them for 3 months after that.

and with 3 weeks till action unless miracles land on my doorstep it aint happening in the time.

which gets me to the point of why the hell do i bother- I'm not longer going to do long shifts at work and come home and do the car- i just want to watch telly and play rugby
