I think you might have been at players last year. Never seen the car on here or RL before (as I'm newish to polo's) - we spent a good 15 mins looking round it.

Glad you can review the wheel professionally - wouldnt want to be on the road otherwise.

get some g60 steels banded to the perfect width think of the dish! might be your best option to get the same fitment back but depends if you like bands or not

shame about the wheels though!

also a bit of a odd one but is your aerial a standard g40 one? wanting to change my stubby to one that actually receives signal since i went through all the effort of getting a roof mounted aerial done and i have literally no signal

Why can't you make another set of wheels fit exactly?

You can buy some the widths you want with a higher offset then machine spacers to mm perfect to what offsets you want...I could not justify leaving a car in the garage for another year just because of wheels, people would see it on different wheels and still appreciate the car and the workmanship.

Or get the wheel repaired like the said links, whilst that's being done finish other bits, wheel returns, refit, shows!

the wheel isnt a simple repair. its been sent off to a speciallist who said to me dont get to optimistic- its a 25yo casting- not a forging like all the wheel repair companies deal with. and i haven't got an MOT, so i cant get it legal until i have wheels- show season will be over by the time i even get the wheel back (if i get it back fixed) then i have to dress, repaint and rebuild 4 wheels. its not going to happen!

Take the engine out again thatl keep you busy lol I'm sure youll find something else to smooth haha

kiz dont take this the wrong way, but i never took a second look at your wheels, i saw a very tidy set of fuchs, but never would have been looking at the detail of number bolts for a split rim.

Why not get a genuine set from after the recall?

I think a good 80 percent of kiz's car no-one will ever see, but its them bits that make it so special to him, its a car for him, built by him to be enjoyed by him.

Surely you could pick up a set of wheels cheapish.

Refurb yourself.

Make adapters/appropriate spacers yourself.

Use tyres from current wheels.

Using your own resources and skills, making it unique and perfect fitment????

Seems such a waste, may do it for what makes you happy yeah but if you're entering shows its to impress others too, if not I'd just leave on driveway and look at it if was for me

It's a shame you're not in a position to grab a different set of rims - I'd be itching to go and drive the car. Hope the guys are able to sort the rim for you!

right, the rims have been repaired, but it took some serious surgery not only to the wheels but also to my already fledgling wallet. i wont be at action in it as theres no way i can get the wheels machined (they need machining after the welding) prepped, painted & reassembled in the time. still no MOT on this either as the wheels stopped it going.

il get some photos up hopefully this evening of whats gone on.

no- i wish they were, be easier to fix.

there cast aluminium- which is a pain in the arse to weld without making it worse- as the previous retard failed to find out when a repair was bodged and resulted in a porous badly fused, shrinkage cracked mess covered in filler.

My mates dad had a porsche targa or what ever there called . Asked to look at his wheels as he said he had a spare set with what you said in mind, but went off on one explaining about how his were forged etc lol ..

Guessing Cast is more prone to cracking ?

casting is harder to weld, I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of it and the reasons as il bore people to death - but the rates of expansion and retraction are different compared to the metal you are filling with and you need to heat the part up and weld it and then let it cool uniformly by placing it back in the oven and cooling it at a set rate to stop shrinkage etc etc. its a ball ache mate - forged wheels are what most alloy wheel are and are far easier to repair.

I'd actually be one of the ones rather intrested .. Loved materials in the time i was at college lol..

Kiz could you please tell me the i/d of your turbo oil feed line as I'm not sure whether to get an3 or an4 hose for my k03 and am i right in thinking the standard banjo bolt has a restrictor in it if this is true if i ran one of these sizes say the an3 could i use a different bolt thats not restricted do you know

id have to check it. i have cheated. because its an M10x1 thread theres a limit to the size hose you can run in the banjo, but i have the next size up and have a specially made adapter to run it with a bigger hose. i believe the germans drill and tap the hole to m12 to run the size. when i know il put it on here

Well the an4 hose and fittings ha an I/d of 5mm and the an3 has an I/d of 3mm and can get te right fittings for both to match from head to turbo its the same stuff from the same company that I got my SS an6 fuel hose and fittings

I know too big a bore you can flood the turbo
