I'm being serious, I thought the paintjob was great, impressive even.

I know jbob rather well, I remember when he found it on edition, done and at a very decent price.

I believe it was painted by Steve Denton in fact.

I bought the wheels it came with from him (15x9 banded G60's)

He mostly used it to deliver chinese food and now he has a passat.

rich - the cars nice and jbob was a sound bloke, though for some reason i never got the V5 so have had to source a new one from dvla. had a few niggly little problems with the car but to be honest, i think it runs better now than it did when i first picked it up from him. i didnt get the wheels with it from him, so I've got some home refurbed ats cups on it now. the bodywork is mint, just needs a good detailing to get rid of some swirls on the bonnet and then I've got some R6 carbs to g on it :-D

cool on the carbs. engine never lived up to the rest of it.

have applied for the v5 from the dvla, no biggy,spoke to his missus the other week but haven't heard back from them though but am not bothered lol, ill just go rack up some speeding fines while its registered in his name lol :-D

Another day, another sweeping generalisation.

Whether they're to your taste or not, the quality of a lot of the bodywork done on heavily styled cars is often really high. As high as the VW scene, for sure, and sometimes higher.

I tell you what, next time you're at a VW show I guarantee you'll see a fair few poorly executed modified ones around which don't have bodykits.

Basically, whatever scene you follow there are good and bad cars. Don't write off a whole part of the scene like that.

Yes, but the same could be said for the VW scene.

How can you tell that a smoothed Euro VW won't fall apart as quickly as a poorly fitted kit? Kitted or smooth, I reckon the standards are similar, it's just the tastes which differ. If you take two cars to the same bodyshop, have one fitted with a kit and the other smoothed, chances are if one's a bodge job the other will be too.

The VW scene tends to hold itself up on a pedestal sometimes, but whether you like other cars or not there's plenty of good quality work elsewhere. There's also plenty of shit work floating around on our home turf.

to be honest i cant stand "smoothed" bumpers and such.. yea they look good for a while... until you hit a big bump and all of the filler starts to crack and sink i dont think iv seen any smoothed ones that pass the ultimate test of time... leave the bumpers the way they where made i say... do i hear a HOOOORAAHHHHH
