My Mk3 Golf CL

Featured Replies

Some of you might remember me posting pictures of my '88 Bready. I was given that my some chap my my mum worked with and he said i could drive it while he was away in saudi. He is now coming back and his poor old bready is dieing so its all quite good for me! I've ended up bagging myself an N reg 1.6 Golf CL for £490 and I'm pretty chuffed. Havnt got it home yet as they are sorting out tax etc for it atm.

Here are the pictures as it is:

I'm liking theese more and more lately, think one could be my next car

get cracking lol :)

Already had several problems. The cam belt was fraying so i got that changed to avoid problems later on. I also had the water pumps changed at the same time. and then after half an hour of driving around the clutch failed!!! Not happy but because it happened so soon after getting it the garage are going to pull some strings so hopefully the new clutch will be free :D:D:D

Get money on wednesday so some smoked side indicators are going on.

Possibly getting new plates as these ones really cracked and manky. Not sure whether to get pressed plates, legal ones obv, or just just regular plastic ones and just stick them on not bolt to keep them nicer.

awesome mate,

exactly the same as my car, check the thread in this section.

Slam it, put some rims on, get rid of the front indicator and dummy set, either change them for fogs or what I'm gunna do is just get some crystal clear dummy set. cba with the fogs :)

Aye i've seen yours. Looks dead nice! I'm gonna start saving for some lowering springs or coilovers, how much were yours?

i decided not to get coilovers because i heard they're proper bumpy, but its gunna be bumpy either way, i got Jamex Shocks & Springs which lowered it by 60 on the front 55 on the back. and that was £162 off Ebay.

Gives it a nice stance

I've not decided not to lower it as I'm in a band and I'm always taking lots drum kit, amps, band members etc and i dont want to have rubbing cos it drops enough with them in it :p hahaha.

Spraying my badges today :) pictures up later.

lol thats fair enough then, yea update the thread with those pics, laters dude

Gave the engine a good clean and polish the engine, though i still want to get it abit shinier (This picture doesnt show it up as well as i'd like it to, light was abit gash)

Gonna get some better pictures and i've already chosen my photoshoot location but i just need this darn rain to stop!

Lou

looking good man, what did you use to clean your rocker cover ?

Looks alot better than the first set of pics 8-)

Exact same as my last car, N reg mk3 same colour etc

I borrowed some engine degreaser from my mate and sprayed that on then cheaned it up but it didnt bring the shine out at all so i got some different grade sand papers that i had lying around in my garage and spents a fair bit of time with them. Wetting the sandpaper helped bring the caked in oil and dirt out of the metal alot better.

Badge pics will be up today.

Anyone know where I can get a cover for my windscreen wiper on the back? It spoils the look alot. Might just get rid completely.

Probably any scrapyard with a mk3 Golf for Volkswagen.

because mine is scruffy, ill have to give mine a clean, badges look alot better dude :)

i just realised its the same as mine aswell, same colour, Reg and engine ;)

Thanks alot, pleased with the badges :D

Next things:

- Smoked side repeaters

- Smooth the join in my front splitter because it annoys me so much!

- New rear left light because its cracked atm

- New wipers, flat blades. Possibly dewipering the back though i think i'd like to keep my visibility :p

- UK legal pressed plates

But this isnt going to be until september as i have leeds festival and holiday to pay for atm.
