alternator brush fan sheared when i was spinning up around 8k and one half pierced part of the shell and another decided to kamikaze itself into the cambelt and associated tensioners and pulleys.

the plan was always to 1.6 16v this one, and its engine has been sitting in the mk1 for time! the mk1s getting a fully rebuilt engine, and will eventually be home to the shricks.

yep new engines fitted, me and pidge attacked it last night, so shes got 200 more cc's and some lairy cams to boot. just got a couple of jobs left to do and i can fire it up.

fill with oil

fill with coolant

wire up alternator

fit t-piece for oil pressure senders and guages

tighten driveshaft bolts and rear gearbox mount.

I've just had some tea as i was running on empty, and after a schmoke i think i might go out and finish the last few jobs, but probably going to leave it till tomorrow as once again manchester has blessed us with rain!

i have actually done far too many late night engine conversions, than i care to remember.

i only ask for irn bru, haribo, a bit of a smoke, and somewhere fooooookin dry (aka driveway conversions ftl!) especially when you live in manc

and the new alternator is a 6n unit with an internal brush fan, which should remove at least that element of danger!

no love lost over the engine, but the pierced shell makes me want to cry =[ but she shall be welded up in good time.

dunno man, i would like to see over 140 but ill reserve judgement until its been RR'd.

now that its intended engine is in, it means I'm happy to take it to bogg bros, or equiv, to be properly set up
