carbs.jpg

Will be picking everything up next week and hopefully going to try and get it in by the middle of next month.

Looking top!

You not going for 900's now then?

  • Author

no was speaking to mikey and he says the 600s have more progressive needles than the 900s which make it more suited to the valver, his jets are drilled to 1.70mm

can you try and mod the arb blocks to fit with your subframe to move the subby down a bit to clear your sump?

Looks cool :) Is gonna sounds awesome with the ITB's 8-)

Shotgun a ride

  • Author

nay laddie this beasty will be rocking carbs, got some cbr600s en route.

Ah touche carbs FTW :D

And yer il pop some motion-potion in there for you

aye waiting for all the bits really, hopefully this weekend ill be able to fit the vw2s discs and pads from the golf, fit the glader blocks and the tca polybushes so thats out the way.

and the main thing I'm waiting on with no definate date is the gearbox nick_s is selling, as once i get that i can clean it up paint it and then see if i can get away with the mk3 gearbox, mk4 flywheel and mk4 starter, otherwise ill swap the flywheel for a mk3 jobbie that karl is sorting me out, and use a mk2 or 3 starter motay.

then when the engine is ready to rock and I've decided on which fuel pump bike or car one to use, ill bop it in at the house over a weekend, humers kindly offered me the use of his crane if i give him prior notice so job will be a good un.

wanna get it done sooner rather than later now as i need more power now so the daily cruise is a little less laborious

cant find me camera so no piccy updates, but this weekend just gone saw the following fitted

Gladersiete ARB Blocks

Powerflex Inner & Outer TCA Bushes

New TCA (1 side)

VW2's from the Mk1 Golf GTI

239mm Drilled Black Diamond Discs

Pagid Pads

Also converted the HK lump over to electronic ignition from points, with a new coil, tci unit and dizzy.

Picked up the CEG Gearbox off Nick_S this evening so i will be cleaning it up and painting it tomorrow evening

Still need to source the correct Mk2 Dizzy that will fit the AFH head, source the fuel pump and get the engine mounting plate made up, although i can work without that and fit that at a later point should it come to it.

I'm also going to try and use the Mk4 flywheel and Mk4 starter motor, and see if it can be done, and if its not fruitful then i have a spare mk3 flywheel.

Fingers crossed everything will be here by the weekend after next as that is going to the weekend I'm going to attempt it!

Also need to replace the clutch cable as its started creaking at me and its due to snap any minute soon =/

Sounds like your really making progress  Cant wait to see it finished etc :p

well well well, moved the crashbot as its been sold to vw-nay who came down and lent a hand, and unearthed some treasures!

first noticed a tci unit, then attached to it the correct coil and wiring...

i thought there must be the dizzy around here somewhere, but to be honest, i have no idea at all where this loom came from. i certainly didnt buy it thats for sure, maybe it came with the huge amount of spares i got with the lupolo.

but alas a bit of a search revealed the correct dizzy 030 905 205 A

epic win.

also when i started emptying the crashbot, i unearthed several things id forgotten i owned, pleased by a working gt steering damper, so that will go one day in the week as they are a piece of piss to fit.

also nearly took out the windscreen! 50mph+bonnet not closed properly=potential fail

shes wearing a couple of battle scars now but just very small superficial paint damage, a localised touch up with a rub down, some zinc etch primer n top coat and itll be reet, but i do need new bonnet arm jobbies

picture showing clearance of water housing, the little take off on it gets in the way slightly so it cant be advanced anymore. it could be taken off and blanked and tapped elsewhere if it causes a problem

hengine - note they are lupo gti leads so too short for the dizzy and no king lead as theywould attach to a coil pack on the side of the head

id really like to do it next weekend but I'm still waiting on carbs and exhaust in the post, and still have to get a fuel pump and the engine plate made up.

tomorrow i need swap the alternator pulleys and fit it to the engine

but before I'm allowed to do the engine conversion, i have to get my tracking done, fit new rear shoes, bearings, replace a wheel cylinder and drill out a snapped bleed nipple on a front calipers!

but youve reminded me to get some bits ordered from gsf tomo
