Will suit the yellow well,me thinks. Gives the thing more a sense of mystery i think, not many will know its a Polo. Id do away with the chrome strip myself.

Aye man, was thinking about painting it red, or possibly yellow but unsure. wont bother doing anything at the minute tho, far more pressing jobs!

cannae wait for a yellow bonnet too although I've grown fond on the taxi cab look

sweet man... looking forward to seein that grill on in the flesh... esp with the bonnet n bumper sported! she'll be back inaction in no time...if you dont make it daaaaaan saaaaaf this weekend let me know n we'l have it backin action asap!

easy,

I'm up the unit thursday night as my sis is going back home during the day, so going to get a few more bits and pieces done on the wee beasty, deffo not here this weekend, but will try and get the lupolo back some point midweek next week as the weekend after were having a massive attack at both the cars, polomons joining us too woot.

might go pick up that bumper tonight actually, cos looking at the perils broken face makes me =[

Woop, well car was all ready to rock this weekend, bar fitting an alternator and wiring it up, and a battery.

but I've since taken the carbs off as I'm having the inlet manifold modified to it will fit the genuine carb rubbers off teh bike. i got annoyed with forever fannying about refitting the carbs due to ill fitting hoses

antoni helped me get her running today, and she brapped into life.

DSC02934-1.jpg

couldnt get enough advance so flipped dizzy round 180 degrees, didnt need to drill out cam or owt

DSC02935-1.jpg

carbs connected with the original bike rubbers and sliding into silicon tubing just ever so slightly larger than the rubbers.

DSC02941-1.jpg

getting some breakdown cover with my insurance tomorrow and then brapping her about.

few jobs i need to do

get battery tray welded up!

fit speedo cable

refit theroswitch plug into loom, and retain fan overide switch

fit powdercoated rad cowling

drill out snapped stud for radiator bracket

fit kill switch

replace front bumper

and most importantly refit the clutch cover plate i omitted otherwise itll be slipping in a very short space of time!

changed the thermostat too as it was broken and stuck open which meant the drive down was baltic! wee video of some brapping, dying clutch release bearing, but ill rock it till it explodes =D

th_MOV02970.jpg

sold the old braking setup, and had a set of antonis old bready lying around, so chucked them on,

DSC02989.jpg

new shoes and wheel cylinders fitted, got new bearings to go in (although when i took them off i remembered i only changed them back in april), I'm reusing the drums as they are in good nick

DSC02988.jpg

so tomo fitting rear bearings and drums and bleeding the brakes, depending on how i feel i might fit the gt steering damper and lower strut brace.

lol joker!

caught up with an long time manc homeboi Arun (Phataz1) who has turned his creative hand at inlet manifolds.

with the carbs and inlet manifold off mine, we were left with a gasket for a template

heres the flange being cut out of 10mm thick mild steel

DSC03039.jpg

a lil bit of welding and some neat angles cut by eye after some measuring with a set of verniers

DSC03040.jpg

ports 1 and 4 straight runner being welded on

DSC03045.jpg

bam, carbs fit like an absolute glove using the oem bike rubbers.

DSC03050.jpg

DSC03049.jpg

DSC03051.jpg

DSC03048.jpg

can runs like a dream now, free of chinlet fannymould leaks and free from the paranoia of the thought of potentially any minute the carbs may leap from thier original position!

previously bogineered solution with an inlet manifold designed for r1 carbs, bike oem rubbers and 40mm ID silicon hoses to join to the runners, note ports 1 and 4 are properly bent inwards and the steps were awful inside the ports. but hey it did the job =D

DSC02941-1.jpg

but I'm epicly pleased with Aruns work, he's an absolute legend. He will be starting to produce more of these in the near future, but in the final year of university, final year projects will take priorty but drop him a PM and he will be sure to get in contact as soon as he can!

Cheers Blood!

will be tapping the inlet ports for vac lines on each chamber with a brake bleed nipple feeding that into a paper fuel filter to smooth out the flow and i can get my vac advance connected again

woop might actually give the poor girl a machine polish one evening this week and shes crying out for a good clean

I like your style, especially the welder on the back doorstep!!!

Still yet to travel in the "peril" & I can't wait!!!

specially hand made for a mk1-3 polo with a 16v conversion and has provisions for a g40 or g60 charger, the last engine to run this mani was putting out 250 brake with a g60 charger, but was heavily modified internally.

not sur how many of yellow mk2 polos rep a black hood, cant be many.

Were you over nortrhampton way today, swear i saw this down my street :-)

nice car
