Doesnt wood expand and shrink with changes in temp etc?

I dont think its genuine, why is there no pics of the whole thing? ;) i reckon its just that little bit pictured

Metal changes under heat to. Science GSCE finally being used.

Everything solid changes with heat, because all the little things (cant remember the scientific name  ) that make up solids liquids and gases in solids have no where to move to get out of each others way when they're flying about and hitting each other, so they squash against the edges (if you like) to make room. Common sense finally being used lmao

I was just pointing it out more than asking :smirk: *edit* Oh and wood will change more/faster than metals as its, errrm, less bound???? is that the right word? not as solid??? pmsl, i know the shit just not the technicalities grrrr

Like, how can he say it works so well when obviously theres going to be different forces with it due to change is size? and when water gets in and the wood becomes damp :?

Molecules? Newtons? Atoms?

metals expand more than wood because of the composition of the molecules, wood is made of carbon chains which are less kinetically stable and just combust when provided with high levels of energy (heat) and oxygen (air). the bonding of metal ions means they move alot more (explains the expanding) but wont combust (catch fire) as the ionic bonds are alot stronger

A level chemistry 8-)

Ahh, i stand corrected :-D youre a brainy fucker arent you?

Wasnt it you that PM'd me to correct me on my vegan failure too?:retard::badgrin:

surly if he can afford a 172 he could bring himself to buy a proper strut brace.

fail

I considered another aspect of this - he cant be seventeen, can he?

I dont know how old i was when i realised that untreated wood warped, bent, and was manipulated by forces against it when left open to moisture, but it must've been by the time i could insure a 170-plus bhp car.

It was probably about six months after making my first parcel shelf.
