4 BBS center caps from old bmws for £10. Was a good day.

A mate got a 1600 Beetle engine.

Reversed up, put it in his boot, tarporlin over the top, decklid over the top again.

"How much do you want for the decklid mate?"

"£10 should cover it"

"There you go, cheers"

Drives off happy.

LOL

I wear a very big coat so I can sneak small stuff but a whole engine going to need a bigger coat

i find loads of mk4 polos and mk3 golfs in scrapyards

managed to sneak out, a full mk3 fuel assembly, 2 inline pumps

Paid a few quid for a throttle body and VAG first aid kit /triangle holder.

Front and rear 3/4 painted bumpers £30

Ebay only had people wanting five-six ton for 1.6 16v engines, but my contact gave me one for 150 quid.

But its not all about price, you can measure things and get ideas - if id not gone to a french breakers for a mates 106, id not have found out that a 206 HDi had a perfect centre pipe to link an AFH downpipe to a G40 rear section. So i now have a tidy one-box 16v MK2 exhaust system with no welding - just two clamps.

I also chose my bike carbs whilst having a look in a bike breakers - they looked most ideal of the ones i viewed.

Many small parts were the same,my fuel T pieces are from a Golf cooling system, bigger rear drum brakes only found by accident, horns from an Omega and side light plugs from a Punto.

I dont go to 'over the counter' breakers,i wanna help myself. And as long as these nazis dont worm through another election,i think i'll continue to be able to do so.

Over the counter just try to rip you off. my bike carbs I have the T pieces from an aircraft

But don't you think Mk2 part are becoming more rare I had to go too five scrapyards to find one MK2 polo

I went to one the other day got bootlock, manual book, 2badges, polo cl and coupe badge, fuel cap, red dip stick, gear knob, wrench and when I opened the boot there was a box which I thought I had struck lucky and found a first aid kit turned out to be a new wheel bearing kit. With the result of wearing baggy shorts and the guy being a tool and not moving the 306 estate of the little mk3 it cost me a fiver lol

SO YOU GOT THAT WHOLE LOON FOR A FIVER???

Yeah, I know one that's trying to go that way. Was bloody funny last time I went, there were about 6 people lingerring round waiting for parts because they weren't letting anyone in. I showed up, said what I was after, the owner goes "Yeah, got a couple in Steve, go for the red one on top of the pile down the back. Keys are in the forklift if you need it."

Gotta love case by case health and safety

£5 for central locking pump... had two of them over the years. Cant beleive the robbing peasents on here asking for £45.

Was in there the other week and had an SE, only wanted a tenner a piece for the bumpers. I couldnt get the front one off so didnt bother. Took the grill tho- £5. Sweet. Il not tell you how much i sold them for, after my comment above!

dint get anything off it as i was looking for mirrors at the time (also turned out to be a good deal). but spotted this looking sorry for its self in a corner.
