Well I found that all a bit odd.

Turned up, parked, got out of car. Walked around a bit, and then about 6 police officers wandered over. I think I was the first person they spoke to as i was at that end.

Anyway a police woman (quite an attractive one as well lol) asked me (politely) what we were all doing there, so I said I was here because of a gathering mentioned on club polo. She then asked if we had permission from leeds city council! As far as I know they dont even own the car park and we had all payed to park. But I politely responded no not that I was aware.

Then a bit later a few of them were asking about my car (sensible polite questions) to which I responded accuratly and politely. I think someone then asked if anyone was doing anything wrong, and they mentioned a passat that had no tax. They were writing down all reg numbers.

More chit chat with them yada yada, they said that the traffic cops would come along later to check us all out, they asked what time we were leaving etc etc.

Next thing I'm asked if thats my car quite agressively (points to my car) so I said yes whats up, I was aked if I had my V5 and MOT/Insurance with me to which I replied no (got a bit of a funny look), then one of them said they ran the plate and it dosent exist, by which time the mood had completely changed into that sort of 'we think you are evil' sort of thing. I said it should be fine, then they ran it again and walked off, I had to ask if all was ok and I got a mumbled yes back!

Next thing you know I'm asked to put my car on full lock, told that my Yoko A048's are semi slick and arent alowed on the road (which is nonsense) but I checked the sidewalls for 'track use only' etc and there was nothing so they left it.

They werent too bad after that, exept one copper goes 'look, I used to be a boy racer myself, but you want to be careful with your car' or summot like that. Practically called me a boy racer! Just because he used to dick about in a nova in '96 doing handbrake turns in mcdonalds car park dosent mean thats what I do.

I lost a bit of confidence in the police really, The seemed ok at first but its the same as ever, as soon as they think they have you pinned for doing somthing wrong (without knowing what they were on about) they talk to you like a rapist FFS. I take a lot of pride in my car (even though it might not look like it) and I take offence when someone who dosent really know what they are on about tries telling me that my car is illegal, as if I would deliberatly fit illigal tyres!!!

Anyway me and popdragin started to leave after that because I had already been harrassed by the normal coppers and wasnt waiting around to listen to the same stuff from a traffic cop. Started driving out and was asked by said coppers why we were leaving (albeit politely), said they had spoilt the mood a bit. Anyway got down to level one and spotted a police van outside and wondered if they were just saying there were traffic cops coming later to get us out of there (maybe so they could pull us over on the public highway?) I dare say there is nothing they can do about your illigal plates etc if you are parked in a private car park.

So we parked on level 1 and went for a wonder.

Surprise surprise, no traffic cops turned up (probably too busy catching real crims) and all was well after that. To be fair i think it was just a load of bored coppers out for a wander.

Did anyone even get done for anything? what about the passat with no tax?

I was a bit pissed off reallly. It just ruined my evening. Even with nothing to hide its not nice having a copper TRY to find fault with you and your car.

Rant over anyway. I will see you all at the next meet, not letting them put me off.

I ain't sure when the next one is now as I'm off back to uni tomorrow.

Best thing to do is to PM Trackrat. We just seem to arrange them whenever really. Last one we had was September 2nd I think, so don't think there will be another until beginning of October perhaps.

Ok no probs well the golf is still en route from the factory, and i cant drive for a few weeks in october so wont be looking for a meet till november anyway unless i make the mrs drive, and I'm not even sure i am going to allow him on the insurance yet

Haha fair enough, had some one else asking me about another meet will think of a date maybe mid October as it was abit much last time with 2 meets day after each other and with editin aswel so probably middle of octoboer time although the weather is gonna go south for the winter aswel so maybe bi monthly for the winter time would be the best?
