no, no and no.. you dont cut/bend springs... lots of people seem to like stretching there springs out (idiot superbike owners) thinking it will help with things... as far as springs go.. you want to

  • Then bigger, from a 600-900cc,though that's not to say bigger is better universally. They have vaccum-operated flat slides, which govern the throttle dependant of what the engine can draw at any time,so

pump is temporarily wired to coil.

ok but the issue seems to be with one of the orginal pumps. if you disconnect and remove the facet pump, turn the key one click then the standard/original pump primes but when you crank/start the engine then it doesn't pump fuel so no fuel is getting to the facet. Do I need to hard wire my orginal pumps to avoid the ecu getting involved, I'm confused!

i would hard wire the lift pump, i assume youve disconnected the old spi/mpi fuel pump at the back

no, I haven't done this yet! Is the mpi one under the car? do I need to remove it or just disconnect wiring?

I will hard wire the lift pump then.

Thanks for your help, sorry I am being totally stupid but I have to ask otherwise I will never get there.

have anyone bike carbs on a mk4-6n?becouse i`d like to convert my polo 6n 1,4 16v,so if any have carbs on a mk4 pls contact me,tnx.

anyone??

Exactly same principle, just need to read through this thread.

tnx mate i read it all and others posts buth i don`t understant what to do with the orig.fuel pump ,what i live it and on the fuel pipe when is coming to the engin conect the facet fuel pumpe and then the ......all other steps??

and wath abouth the orig.ECU ?what i don`need to take it off?

Ecu become redundant so is no longer needed, with fuel pumps you can either use a t-loop system or a stand alone pump such as the facet, the rest is up to you really, most people go for honda carbs, I've used kawasaki ones on mine, the most difficult and expensive part is the manifold (unless you can make it yourself), you also need the full ignition set-up from a mk2 polo or if money allows a stand-alone ecu system.

with the manifold i think there is someone on here making them, the inlets are clover shaped if i remember.

you probably dont have to hard wire the lift pump then but you do need to get rid of your old injection pump

Thanks mate,

So I just remove the pump and replace it with piping?

ok tnx mate the manifold i`ll do it myself, abouth the pumpe i will use the orig.and then the t-loop system, buth grungeisdead he said me that i must to use first the high pressure reg and then the low pressure reg . one thing i don`t understand why i must use high pres.reg if the pressure of pumpe is around 50psi??

Fuel pump removed and happy days :) I have left the 'fuel accumulator' connected to the system but this does not seem to affect things. Idle is good, sounds great. Just need a throttle cable bracket made up before I can take her out for a spin :(

the green wire from the ignition amp loom goes to NEGATIVE on the cil.

the black wire from the ignition amp loom goes to POSTIVE on the coil

red/black wire goes to negative for a tacho

and then you should have one more wire to your coil positive, which is a switched ignition live.

you've possibly fried some of your wiring by plugging things in wrong and you could have caused a serious fire

When I connect the red and black wire from negative to middle wire of old coil plug (as previously suggested by someone in this thread) the car wont start!? Should I just connect the red and black wire directly to the tacho wiring behind the clocks??

Still can't get the tacho/rev counter working!? Any help on wiring please!?!?! I have read this thread before you ask just need confirmation from someone who has done it!?!?!

useful pic mate,

any help on the rev counter wire??

You have to drop the 50psi to about 10psi, then the second one takes it down to 3psi.

Right lads, really thinking about running my mk3 spi on carbs, Iv currently got a gt head and cam in, what sorta bhp could I be getting if I was to put cbr 6 carbs on it?

Cheers

Adam

tnx Cymro, buth i see that the facet pump is not so expencive like 2x reg.soo i will buy that pump.

and then i can still take t-option?

How was that helpfull? and if you knew my car you'd relise it wasnt a standard spi at all, it keeps up with gt's all day long. dick. So anybody else? Surly the injection system wouldnt matter if you were puttin it on carbs?

only messin mate  is it a 1.3 or 1.0 spi ? and no the injection system wunt matter cause all that would be ripped out

Ok mate, sorry cant really grasp humor over the interent lol.

Its a 1.3 with gt head and cam and box. and bits like bigger injector, tb and chip but obviously that'll all come out, so what sorta power can I be looking at achieving?

Thanks

Adam.

you can expect between 15-25 bhp with a well set up bike carb setup, its hard to guess what power output your car is putting out now, but work with those as rough figures

hy grungeisedead do you know how can i bypass the my orig.pump(6n afh),becouse i`ll buy facet pump becouse is more cheeper then 2x press.reg

dont know, tried and failed on a mates 6n, so do it the proper way

carbs are cheap, but its not worth skimping on the other bits, false economy.

tnx mate, corect me if i`m wrong you guys do the conversio with facet pump you just bypass the orig.pump?corect?

one way around this pump issue is a swirl pot, original pumps are used to fill the pot (any redundant pressure is returned to the fuel tank a bit like the t-piece method), the facet then pumps to the carbs.

this method would also give you a second reservoir and a constant bubble free supply. It would also allow for use of the original bike pump.

Edited by Cymro

tnx mate, now i`ll try to do this conection tank-orig. pump-pressure reg.- T-piece - tank ,some guy from Luton he said me that this metod will for now i must just to wait that the carbs come to me becouse i buy another of cbr 600,mine was broken.
