no, no and no.. you dont cut/bend springs... lots of people seem to like stretching there springs out (idiot superbike owners) thinking it will help with things... as far as springs go.. you want to

  • Then bigger, from a 600-900cc,though that's not to say bigger is better universally. They have vaccum-operated flat slides, which govern the throttle dependant of what the engine can draw at any time,so

They will run just not to their optimum but in saying this my ZZR carbs are 1200 not the 600's I thought they were and I have no issues, so there is room for overlap.

So I've got my manifold on. Got my low pressure facet in with t piece. Connected up fuel lines. When the pump runs it overflows fuel out of the little tubes below the trumpets on every carb. What does that mean and has anyone got any ideas on how to solve it? Haven't had it running yet as wanted to test it with the facet pumping through the t piece first (facet on constant live)

Cheers.

ps they are cbr 600 carbs (same as harris.racings)

Those could be your air/fuel adjusters, should be little screw things in each one.

The only time I've had fuel pissing out of mine was after kinking a return hose and over pressurising the bowls.

Take a pic of the holes you mean and ill be able to tell you more (hopefully)

out of the tubes cymro as per this pic

the idle jet adjusters were screwed al;l the way in, would this have caused this?

maybe, wind them out about 2 and half turns.

One of those is an air corrector jet and some say it needs blocking, its somewhere in the thread I think.....

will do that and report back.

and will look into the air corrector jet..

if its the ones on the carb bowl then those are drains. should be a bolt on each one to tighten. oh the cbr pipe stuff is on pg9

ah I think we've misunderstood each other.

I've got the right hoses on. The bottom brown ones are fuel in. Top small ones are fuel float chamber breathers which I've got a long hose on so if there is an overflow it will flow away from the bay.

the big one in the middle is atmospheric breather for the air chambers at the top of the choke sliders, again I've vented that one with a hose.

as per pic

IMAG0468.jpg

the fuel spills out of all of the brass tubes below the trumpets when I pump fuel in. I would have thought it would fill the chambers and then the needle valves would close.

blow on your fuel inlet connection, turn the carbs upsideown, the floats should seal and prevent you blowing, when they're the right way up, air should come out the breathers as you have routed away from bay

it's cool man, sorted now, cheers though.

I was trying it with the pilot jets screwed all the way in on each carb (wasn't trying to run the engine, fuel pump was on constant live) and for some reason doing that makes the fuel overflow..

In other news I will shortly be writing up how I did my carbs (including pipercross airbox) when it's all working so watch this apace, you may find it useful for you

cheers for the reply though dude

I'm running little cone filters on mine, so these little brass jets are kinda exposed, I'm a bit skeptical of that

Should all be filterered, somehow. I'll take some pics of my setup for you soon

in the meantime heres a link top explain what all the hoses are for on the CBR carbs (keihin VP)

http://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f3-17/carb-help-123002/

I've also identified what hose is what. The Brown t pieces are fuel in (we know this) The white t pieces are for the ram air to the fuel bowls and the big black one in the middle is the ram air for the top diaphragm chamber which allows the slides to go up and down. Read my link about how CV carbs work a few pages back and this will explain why this is important.

These can be left bare (do not block them though!) as the ram air system is not used on a car application.

I'm abit stuck with my AEE it drives about ok if i stick to 30-40 its fine but then if i put my foot down throught the gears it goes like a rocket ,then starts running rough and splutters then theres no power at all and it dies. I'm running zzr600 keihin cvk carbs 180 jets with fuel regulator straight to carbs.

sounds like a fuelling issue. How are they set-up?

Sounds as if there isnt enough fuel to keep the bowls full, and these carbs need volume more than pressure.

Can you put a picture up of the setup. might be something in that I can find an answer.

180 jets on a 1.6 ?!

yep. I've got 180 jets on my 1.3  ZZR600's fuel differently to CBR's so need them, you cant adjust needle heigh either like CBR's.

didnt realise Aee was 1.6, so 180's might be too small then.

you cant adjust the needle heights in my cbr carbs? maybe i have zzr ones, but i thought the throttle wheel would have been on the end :S

must be some CBR carbs then, all the things i see about tuning CBR's say the needle height is adjustable, remove needle and you move the circlip up/down to change the main jet mixture.

My ZZR's have the pulley in the middle.

hmmm, what kind of identification marks do you have to compare?

i spoke to dynojet and they said my standard jets suggested they were off a 95-98 cbr, but i dont know?! had 140 in middle carbs, 138 in outers, fixed needles, wheel in middle, 37.5mm venturi i think.

cbr 600 rubbers fitted lol.

 its suspected mine are off a 1200 as the inlet side is oval and 600's are round.

The bike i got them off was supposed to be a 600 but even the guy i got it off said it was the fastest 600 he ever driven

driven a bike? lmao.

mine are round venturis.......i put 160's in as a start point, read somewhere as a rule of thumb you can start 160 for 1.6 etc, haha. might get some bigger jets tooooo though, i did think about shimming the needles up, similar effect to moving on a circlip

Ye. you know what i mean.

1.6 = 160 is a rough guide. ye you can get shims for mine, but even getting a repair kit with all the pieces is a nightmare. needed a air pilot screw and the ZZR kits doent come with new ones, lucky enough the ZX ones do (same bike but under the US name) the screw is an identical part number but the carb bowl gasket is a different shape. stupid really.

It does depend on how the carb fuels, CBR's are a different design to the ZZR ones.

these yours?

CBR600 F3A 95-96 carbs:

1803A.png

If you can make any sense of that mess. the ZZR 600 diagram has 2 pipes on it.

i have no idea haha, i have no tps sensor if that helps?! I'm probably just gonna put fuel lines directly into the head and have a constant flow of fuel and just control the air, screw this jetting lark
