no, no and no.. you dont cut/bend springs... lots of people seem to like stretching there springs out (idiot superbike owners) thinking it will help with things... as far as springs go.. you want to

  • Then bigger, from a 600-900cc,though that's not to say bigger is better universally. They have vaccum-operated flat slides, which govern the throttle dependant of what the engine can draw at any time,so

do you think, it would run safe enough, for 500 miles, just putting larger main jets in? ie not playing with needles and such? just to run in prior to rolling road?

Thats what I'm planning on harris.racing. Just fitted a set of 145 jets to my 1300. Was 135 inner, 138 outer.

and yes, those are our carbs. Keihin VPs.

see if anyone else with the same engine has there jetting specs up and see where they ended up would be the best advice.

be alright, i might just do it myself tbh, when we jet the kart engines we go up in 1 jet size.....rolling roads go up in like 5's lol

replaced my dodgy air pilot screw today made a hell of a difference.

Id always suspected cylinder 1 of running rich but couldnt work out why, when I removed the old screw the tip was snapped, replaced and adjusted better pick up and hopefully better MPG.

need to double check all the mixtures now.

my dad said i should solder up all the holes in the main jet tube for performance, but not so much drivability or economy lol?

Hi looking in to putting bike carbs on my 14 16v would like to no what's the easy way round of the ignishion side of things?? Would the ecu just run them..and what's this about the mk2 golf 16v ecu?? Would that run them

In most instances the ecu is pensioned off as its unable to create the parameter required to advance/retard the spark properly.

There are mk3's that have run on ecu's but have soon been changed to the mk2 system and either run vac advance or fixed advance.

The ECU will normally turn to a default map if certain sensors are no longer sending signals to the ECU

The whole mk2 polo system is standalone and the wiring separate from the rest of the loom.

so what's the best option...whats needed and where can i get it?

In my view ditch the ECU for the mk2 polo setup or run a custom ecu setup such as megajolt.

Ignition: mk2 vac advance dizzy, Ignition Amp, Coil, Ignition system loom. (some run the dizzy with vac and have variable advance or others fix the dizzy at full advance)

Carbs: around the 600-750cc mark.

Fuel source: either t-piece from stock injection systempump, or fit a low pressure pump and regulator or get a fuel pump from the bike.

Inlet manifold: Homebrew or Bogg Brothers.

So where's the best place to get all the ignishion setup? Would like to bye it all in one really

If your lucky a full setup might come up on here, most get built up when bits come available.

before attempting to sort a throttle cable on a mk4 pedal, ensure you are far from suicidal...cause they're a pain in the arse!

Running the m2 loom would i need the coil? Surly i can just use the one of my afh engine

Nope. Needs to be a round type coil plus they supposedly give a better spark.

instead of drilling out the jets would these be better? CLICKY HERE

also, am i right in thinking you can use a volvo 40 exhaust manifold and fabricate it to use as an inlet or did i just dream that at some point?

Nope. not when you can pick up 4 jets at under a tenner. Cheaper if you go down to a bike shop, had some at about £1 each once, just told take a selection and bring back what you dont need for a refund.

and second question: not unless you re-port the whole head or manifold, the ovals are 90degrees out.

I've read through the FAQ pages but cant find out what else i need and where everythin connects too :-( Hope its not me bein dopy  I've got...

Any help be very appreciated.

Cheers, Chris

Do you know what the Carbs have come off? they look ancient by design

Going purely by guess work.

Red Hose: Fuel in

the brass fittings could be breathers or fuel return (cant see any other breathers)
