4ys NCB for me in a couple of weeks, just got a quote on my Polo for £230 haha

I did pass my HGV test today though so i can join in on this thread!

I passed my test on the 31st July this year and tbh it felt great (but not that great... something was missing :(...) :p. 9 minors (quite a few, I was nervous) but a pass none the less. Just got back from driving to Leicester and back for a 3 day training course (drove there and back 3 times) and my polo never missed a beat, plus did it all on 1 tank of fuel with a little left over (1043cc Mk3). No points yet (that I know about anyway), 1 parking ticket and a few brown moments since passing but nothing to get in a twist about :). The biggest thing I find is not to get pissed when your stuck behind a lorry or a tractor, there's shit all you can do about it most of the time because a 1l polo isn't exactly a quick car lol. Your going to have your stupid moments too, trying to take corners at stupid speeds, burnouts and handbrake turns but I grew out of it quite quickly (tyres for standard steelies are £30 a corner), although the desire for speed is something which is not going to be lost for a long time :p. Problem is now when I'm bored I just want to go out and drive, which can be quite expensive as the costs soon mount up! Hopefully going to budget my funds better next month, getting pretty fed up of running out of money with 2 weeks to go till payday...

Some of the best bits of advice I can give new drivers such as myself is to keep the clowning around for the right time and place. If you clown around in a car park, do stupid speeds and burnouts in a built up area - your going to have issues, just adding the risk of making all that money invested in lessons a complete waste. Save it till the right time and place . Another thing is the realise that some people are an asshole and think they own the road (don't go into why - it doesn't matter).

Other than that, drive safe and enjoy it mate :).
