Alot of give + Heavy steering issues!

Hi guys, I'm pretty novice so I figured I'd come here first and just see if anyone has ideas as to what I should look for when I get under me car. Basically, car got kerbed pretty badly (at low speed but on a high kerb), tracking is hugely off now (drives straight about 1/4 of a turn out), but was slightly off before due to an interesting driveway and there is a ridiculous amount of give (quarter to half a turn) in the steering before anything happens. The steering is also much heavier than usual.

Haven't been driving it since the issues arisen and have got some free time to take a look at it finally, if only just to find out what's wrong before I take it to a garage. Was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to what I should be checking.
