I'm guessing spring snippage????

The first part of the MK2/2F shell to touch the ground is the chassis brace. Take that off and the second part to touch the floor are the chassis brace mounts.

Even then,the one above must be scraping the floor,you'd have to remove the mounts to get the sill any closer to the ground (spot-welded to the shell).

For anyone who loves a bit of -ve camber haha
