Featured Replies

Great thread! I have just fixed two broken locks with s/h bits saving mega amounts of cash! Now have central locking back :)

My local garage said they couldn't fix them and have now asked me to fix a customers car

Well done that man and clear pics as well!

a bump from me

Hi all, apologies for bumping an old post but this guide is exactly what I'm looking for. Annoyingly I've hit a snag right at the beginning.

I've removed the torx screw in the drivers side door to release the handle but the handle won't come out. It'll come out a couple of inches but gets stuck. Should it come out pretty easily without any force? I can see the problem, the paddle has snapped clean off, heard it disappear down into the depths of the door.

Just about to try this but could do with pictures,we're have they gone?

These are not the original pictures but are the instructions from the dealer manual, 6N 6N2 Door lock Paddle replacement.doc you don't need the special tools shown in the document, needle nosed pliers will work :)

A lot of people put up with the problem of a sticking door lock for years. But you can also get rid of this problem by simply cleaning and oiling them. You can fix most of the locks by this method in a matter of minutes. Although, you can always call a Locksmith in case, you cannot fix your lock yourselves.

Jammed locks can be repaired by own so better to hire a locksmith so that the jammed lock will not be broken and repaired well because locksmiths know how to unlock the jammed lock well.

Door handle and lock comes out an inch and then gets stuck on a gold lever? How do I remove the handle? Undone torx screw.

So had this precise problem - driver door lock spinning round, not activating central locking or lock cylinder. Read this. Viewed YouTube guides. Bought repair set off eBay for £3. Went to fix the door today.  Remove door handle but mechanism is different. There was a fragment of broken paddle (I assume) left in a little loop at the end of the cylinder lock, unsprung. No circlip to remove. And a broken plastic sealing ring.

I probably need a little hooked type paddle and method for attaching it.

Can anyone help?

I may have answered my own query, after a little eBay search, I came across what looks like the paddle part. I've bought one and assume it will only fit one way or the other!
