Well I was bored and stumbled across this section which I have not seen before. I thought I would share with you some pictures of my true pride and joy (Polo isn't worth it's own thread in it's current state  )

My beautiful 1975 VW Beetle 1300. Has 70k original miles on it since new, everything is still factory standard and in generally good condition.

LeftSidesmall.png

Bought her two years ago when I was 17 and close to passing my test. Drove her about for 18months but then took her off the road in July as I was moving to uni and didn't want to clock up the miles on her.

She currently resides in my parent's garage SORN'd and without MOT. It's such a shame as I really loved driving it about but was sick of using it as a daily and I am having real trouble finding cheap Classic Car insurance being only 19 :-(

Have deliberately kept it totally standard but am now very tempted to get it back on the road and lower it a little on some nicer wheels.

Hope you all like it even though it's not Polo!

:-D

oh cool, that's a pretty dam good quote to be fair.. when i was 17 i paid 1000 with LV but that was with my mum fronting me and with all the customer discounts and stuff cos my rents house and car is also with them. all the other similar quotes were like £2000+ and this was with my mum as the main! and its only a 1300!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do atm but theres no rush, i might even get one of those tracker quotes where they limit the time that you use the car etc, or a limited mileage one as it's literally only going to come out on weekends for leisure probs..

thanks for all the other nice comments aswell all

classic insurance is the way on a really old car! My 71 1.4 beetle was £450 a year with me as only driver at 18

interesting.. who did you get classic insurance with? i might have to get a quote off them as I am 19.

also, please explain how you had a 1.4 beetle?!?

cheers lads, yeah i know i have now actually been looking into some adjustable front beams and dropped spindles.

also been contemplating some BRMs, but tempted to have them all silver/polished..

not too sure yet, but will post up any progress 8-)

now to start saving all over again!

I personally think it looks great as it does, id try my hardest NOT to modify it if it was mine :ninja:

Dont really see THAT many standard looking beetles anymore...

i am not a fan of bettles but this looks fantastic as it is

the are normally ratted and sound like shit, this is a great example, id keep it as it is, easily an investment that will just gain in value

walshy rounds it up really!

Yeah definnatly doesn't need modding, look's beautiful..

:)

looks awesome, dont suppose you were one of the many orange beetles parked up together at vw action (2008) were you? cuz i saw a load lol.

having seen a lot of beetles close up, the first thing that struck me when i saw this was how immaculate it was.

what an investment!

Cheers again all, yeah you have a fair point walshy.. that's mostly why I kept it so standard for the past couple of years.

If I did do anything to it, it will be in a couple of months at the earliest when I get some spare dollars again, so I will just see what happens.

Haha yeah I am mate, the line up was all pre-planned and organised by the ODA for the show lol

Haven't been very active with them at all though, they have a separate forum which I joined but haven't really done much else since Action '08.

I never knew there was a Yellow Dub Club aswell, that's pretty awesome! You have any pics of your bug dude?

Yeah, I've not really been on VZI in ages though so not sure if it still exsists

Heres my thread on here for mine, not been updated in yonks because I've not been able to get to the beetle to do any work on it :-( need to fix my e30 first.....

My god that looks gorgeous!!!! Can really see the temptation in modding it! I'd be extremely tempted myself, but can't help but think this one deserves to be kept as it is. I think either way with how immaculate it is, people will love it! Although tbh who cares as long as YOU love it :)
