VW breakers yards/polo mk2 body parts

Featured Replies

Hi, i am rebuilding a 83 polo mk2 so it is roadworthy. And unfortunatly i have less than two monthesleft for the deadline of my birthday, so i can learn to drive.

Basically the problem is the back end has had serious rust :x , i will try and upload photos later but there are holes in the bottom parts of the wings that join to the valance, where the bumper can hide them, around the lights etc.

The plan was to cut sections from the polos from the local breakers and weld those in place, however the breakers only do newer cars now and crushed the old polos. :x

Now i can't find any local breakers with mk2 polos as they are 'too old' according to them.

Now i know we can make our own bit's out of sheet metal but it won't be as easy. Plus it will be a dam sight harder. I have a new l/h wing for the back as the original is rough, although i think that will be for another time...looks like a big job.

Oh and my car lives outside which means i have only daylight hours between showers to do work, and it is accesable to chavs which means it has to be secure!

So does anyone know of a breakers yard in devon that have old mk2's???

Or alternatively know someone that has cut up one and has body parts surplus to requirements???

Also any advice on how to change a rear wing would be helpful.

Plus advice on patching wrotten battery trays too. :-)

Thanks,

Mat 8-) .
