1994 MK3 Coupe FOX 1.0L Alpine white

Bought the car for £180 in October last year. 2 Lady owners from new, 45k miles and a bit of service history.

It had been lying under a tree for a few months and needed a good clean. Some surface rust around the arches, a scab on the passenger door and a small hole in the chassis leg nothing major.

I washed and t-cutted the car, cleaned the interior, sprayed the rusty steel wheels and faded badges black. Changed the FOX door cards for black GT ones. Fitted dash speakers and a JVC head-unit. Removed the FOX decals. Fitted clear indicators, glove box lid and new air filter. Got a set of rover coupe half leather recaro front seats and a 6 cd multi-changer. A badgeless grill, clear side repeaters and a 60/40 lowering kit.

Plans: Lowered, MK2 arches and skirts, ATS Classics. Back bench to replace the fox one. Boot wall and pillar carpets, momo steering wheel and and we'll see how it goes from there.

plans sound good, but i'd take those centre caps off the wheels if i were you, looks strange them being lighter than the actual wheel imo

I'm enthusiastic and I know but the wheels are only temporary so I'm not bothered.

I Got a pair of half-leather recaro's from a rover coupe last night, I've gave them a good clean as they had been lying in a garage for about 10 years! They have general wear and tear but not complaining, they were free.

The only trouble is fitting them - alot of hassle cutting and welding.

OR to try and bolt the seats straight onto the floor - sounds easy but trying to fit them between the polo runners may be tricky. Plus, the drivers seat has a height adjusting lever which gets in the way. Muchos modification to be done.

If you cut the runners from your standard seats, and get busy with a welder, you can graft them onto the bottom of the Rover seats. Hey presto! Rover seats that fit a Polo perfectly :-). Nice ideas and progress so far. Keep it up .

My 60/40 TA lowering kit (same as phil j kit) arrived the other day!

Looks like my car only a bit healthier :). I'm in a similar boat with you on the seats department, only I had mine sat around for several months now because they will need custom fitting. If you do manage to get those Rover seats in could you do a step by step? I think it would benefit the whole forum for something like that :). I'm liking the mods so far, and like someone before me said you do work fast lol. Think you might of inspired me to remove my bump strips and decals, just need to get another canard because I got one missing :(.

Removed the rest of the bumpstrip glue today, changed the oil and oil filter and it already sounds better.

Wrong way round mate, I thought you were taking the stickers off .

Not updated this in a bit so here goes...

I've fitted a gt rear bench, momo race-line steering wheel, JVC head unit, centre console, boot carpets, 8 ball gear knob, wheel trims just to tidy it up a bit and gave the engine bay a good clean (not quite finnished yet though - few tricky places to clean yet.)

I also sold the Rover coupe seats as I can't be bothered having the subframes welded up I'd rather have some corrado seats that slide stright in.

I also took the drivers wing off, sanded it down and painted it but it needs re-done.

Plans :

Interior - Black Corrado fronts, Cd Changer, New speakers all round.

Exterior - Paintwork all sorted out, Black B-pillar decals, Ats Classics 13x7, Mk2 arches and sills.

Engine - Clean the carb and fit new spark plugs. No point in trying to make it go fast as it's only a 1L. Might buy an engine cover.

Suspension - Lowered 60/40 on Phil J kit.

Brakes - Upgrade front disks and pads and possibly new shoes on the back.

Also need to sort out MOT.

Got bored one day and did a quick chop

Today I did some more cleaning to the engine bay and cleaned out my carb.

I also decided to remove my washer bottle and I made a new one to fit in the scuttle tray...a petrol can! It still need finnished as I want it black and it is sitting a little high but works perfectly.

I also dewipered the tailgate and freshened up the badge a bit ...sorry about the poor phone pics it was getting dull when I took them.

how did you make the new washer bottle?

I had an old petrol can so I drilled a hole in the side, put the rubber washer from the old tank in the hole, cut the handle off so the bonnet closes and wrapped it in black tape then fitted the pump. Easy to do really, It was just one of those spur of the moment things but it looks a bit crap, it's too big and sits too high. Might look cool in a rat style car if its done properly. I'm either going to put the old one back in or buy a washer bag and put that in the scuttle.

Lowered the car over the weekend and what a difference it makes.

It's sitting on 60/40 phil J kit on 145/80/13 all round looks alot better but it's crying out for a set of wheels.

The driver's wing is still not finnished but i just put it on to see how it looks.

Also cleaned some of the bay with a wire brush and bought some mk2 arches and sills.

Just fitted JBL GTO 6x4 and 3.5" dash speakers to replace the ripped paper ones, a big difference in sound quality just a few tweeks and they'll be fine.

Also got armour door plates, braided brake lines and mk2 arches and sills which all need fitting.

The car is definately getting there only a few more mods and it will be how I want it.

yeah like this, i think orange idies would look alot better, get saving for some new wheels though!

As for the washer bottle, just re-use a litre bottle of coke or something, then took it away somewhere.

Thanks for the comments guys, yeah I'm in two minds over the indies but we'll see how it looks once it's finnished. The coke bottle idea is cool but I don't know where I'd put it.

Quick update,

I decided to paint my sills and arches with stone chip today just to prevent any rust and give some added protection since they are due to be covered up with the arch and sill trim soon.

I started to paint the surface rust on the edge of the arches then I decided just to go all out and paint the sills and inner arches too and it looks miles better IMO.

Only done the passenger side but I'll finnish it tomorrow. Also got to get a set of new disks, fit my braided brake lines and get a new pair of nylon locking nuts for the top of the track rod ends.

UPDATE:

Mint new interior, new wheels and armour door plates. The wheels were only £40 so they'll do for now til I can afford a set of classics.

Update:

Forgot to put the bump stops on the rear suspension so did that yesterday. The car is also now sitting 60/50.

My tinted taillights came today :-D

all that's left for the rear is a de-locked boot plinth, the scab on the right hand side painted and my private plate fitted.

Looking good now mate...when are we going to see it at a Scottish CP meet?
