Cheers mate, I'm hoping to have the car on the road next month, I've just got my braided brake lines to fit and the drivers wing finally painted and it'll be ready for MOT and good to go. It's been in my garage now since October so I'm itching to drive it. There's really not much it needs now.

Well yesterday I finally bought the weels I've wanted for ages, a Staggered set Of Ats classics

Since my wheels arrived on Monday I decided it was about time I got the car MOT'd so my dad and I have been working on the car for the past few days getting it ready.

The brakes were in need of an overhaul so they now have new front disks, pads and new braided hoses. My dad also made some new copper pipes for the front and back too so everythings corrosion free.

The new wheels were rubbing on the rear arches at 50mm down so Re-set the shocks at 30mm which was too high and now it's back to 40mm so hopefully it should be ok.

Also, because of the difference in tyre sizes, the car is now about 3 inches lower which resulted in the exhaust getting stuck between two kerbs at the side of the road and it took a bit of lifting and pushing to get it out! So the U-bolts are now upside down to stop it happening again.

So all the car needs now is:

- Two new nuts for the track rod ends

- A Locating Spring clamp that goes betwen the copper brake pipe and brake hose

- A bolt in the ARB

- A new earth cable from the alternator to the chassis leg

- The battery bolted in properly.

Then at some point:

- Arch and sill trim fitted

- Drivers wing and other parts painted

Finally! The car passed it's MOT on Tuesday and I had it taxed and insured aswell. :biggrin:

I Love driving it already. It feels like a go-kart, it's great on fuel, it's quick for a 1L and it's a bonus that people have been telling me it looks cool. So even though it's still not finnished I'm really happy with it!

The only few problems are that the back wheels rub on the arches sometimes so I think I might get them rolled at some point.

I also got the exhaust heated and bent up a bit to stop any extra scraping and it's worked. So far speedbumps dont seem to be a problem - only if there's more than two people in the car. Also I have to stop the parcel shelf from rattling when I'm driving along so I think I might attach some magnets to keep it down.

How did you get the glue off the side strips? when I tried I made a right hash of it and majorly damaged the paint.

cheers, yeah I'm not really sure about the lights I took them off for the MOT and now they're back on but I think I might get pulled for them so I dunno.

I got the bump strips off with alot of elbow grease, polish and some petrol. There's loads of different ways to get them off but have a look in the FAQ section under Bodywork it's a good guide

put the late specs back in bud look miles better than the all smoked 1's

I decided to put the original lights back on it. The tinted lights look good in the pics but they look crap on the car IMO. Plus they are really dim so not very practical. I also took the plastic trim off the roof gutters, looks alot better now. Pics to follow.

Not updated this in a while as I've been busy driving it! I've now got some stickers and window vents which have given me an extra 30bhp! Pics later.

I fitted a new alloy rocker cover the other day after giving it a quick clean so my engine bay is getting there, my plans are to fit a golf elbow and 6n engine cover to tidy it up a bit.

stunning mate, i wouldnt mind a bay that clean might go get my cloth out and see how far i get

makes a big difference, it's still not finnished but it's getting there.
