The only way you'll get it on is to do what people have said and ditch your old airbox, and fit some pikey pipework straight to the throttle body. If i were you i'd just go back to halfrauds and get a refund. VW didn't spend thousands of pounds and many man hours designing the airbox to be as efficient as possible for nothing

Correct you are mate^^ , however this thread was about abit more noise not more power, and to be honest i have seen no changed in such things as MPG or power. But i do think that the golf AFM with a K&N looks the bollocks compared to a airbox.

As for people who haven't got accsess to a golf afm ,taking out the standard ring filter and then ducting a K&N onto the end isnt a bad option , in doesnt look bad , and it makes abit more noise.

Okay well the way I'd go about it (To make it as good a setup as possible), would be to find some piping which is a nice snug fit onto the throttle body, an run the filter just behind the headlight. Fabricate a nice aluminium heatshield to fit around the filter to stop heatsoak, an then run the crankcase breather pipe to an oil catch tank so you don't get any nasty fumes in the cabin like you sometimes get from just running a filter on it. For the inlet air temp sensor, you can just leave it. Shouldn't really have any effect apart from on really cold mornings.

Yea, you're right...thats what I think I'll do.
