How low is your daily driver picture thread . . . .

Featured Replies

fail ^ big peice of rubber on the bottom of the bumper doesnt count , it flexes it if hits a bump , not like a subframe

Lets see your subframe lowness then.....

eh ? i didnt say my subframe was close to the floor , but a splitter/bodykit doesnt really count "imo" usually on something like 17's and big splitters so the cars not actually close to the floor its just bits of rubber or fiberglass !

Thats on 15s and is about as low as it can go....

Its only a daily if you rely on it to get you to work. Either you all work in some very cushty industrial estates or they're just not dailys!

No it isn't, it's a daily if it's driven daily as your only car!

You don't have to go to work to have a daily!

WTF, what do you do then? If your not using your car to go to work every day then what are you using it for lmao.

I dont think driving to the supermarket once a week counts as a daily, although if youve seen the road conditions at my local morrisons it dont make much difference lol.

Umm uncle terry hope that's not your car and I hate to point out the schoolboy error but the brace bar should go over the exhaust not under.

Well that pic is of a whole upgraded subframe. The ones i was showing were TCA mount braces. they're notoriously shit, theres no way they will fit upside down between the sump and the exhaust, i tried lol. They sit under the exhaust. The red one sat a lot closer than the shitty ally one, but they're both pretty close to the ground. Replaced with a GED brace now anyway, miles out the way lol.

Maybe driving to college/uni everyday? Often driving to go visit friends, family etc? I would consider that a daily aswell.

sorry but i dont consider that a daily.

Imo, the point of saying something is a daily instead of just a normal modded car that you may own is that it has to do all the hard work associated with the neccesity of driving to work in the morning. That includes having to stay up till 2am trying to fix the exhaust so that you dont get fired for not turning up the next morning. Its about not having time to turn around if theres a speedbump or parking pole, because youll be late for work.

I consider my car a daily for somw of the year when I'm going to work every day, having to get over parking poles and through lumpy ind estates.

I dont consider my car a daily atm. I'm at uni, i use my car to drive from home to here, around town and to meets. But most of it isnt a neccesity and i can take my time usually. I dont have another car as a show , but i dont put my car through the stress and strain i put it under when I'm driving it to work daily.

Just my opinion lol.

sorry dude, for me if a car is driven daily and you dont have another car surely its a daily.

when I'm not at uni i drive it everyday, you cant tell me while i dont use for a few days it becomes a show car :?

surely a daily is a car thats driven daily regardless if its for work, college, or visiting people

I know that its a full frame but even then the rear brace is designed to fit above the exhaust. Hence the curve on them. Have a look at the stage 1 system and you'll see.

On the stage 3 one on here you have to remove the exhaust, on the Polo3 one its separate so you just feed it over.

Fitting it underneath is just asking for trouble and TBH even looks wrong, as they should fit between the rear of the bay &behind the sump not under it, with the curve going over the exhaust.

Only place you might have problems is if you still use the oem gearbox mount.

^^^ i would say that its correct to go under as it acts as a sump/exhaust guard aswell

It doesn't go under lol

The reason the kits come with a uprated gearbox mount is to allow you to fit the brace, as the normal one gets in the way! Theres no need for the gearbox mount other than for that reason, it makes no difference ;)

I laughed when I saw it anyways. Easily done I guess!

You don't have to drive to work every day for it to be a daily lol. I'm in walking distance to work so normally I do just that, on the odd occasion (rain/cars out/I'm already out) I'll drive.

some days my car sits in the garage for a day or so as I don't need it. But I normally still use it on a day to day basis for shopping, going to the pub, visiting mates etc. So its a daily.

A car that isn't a daily is a weekend toy or a car that you drive just for the odd spirited drive or show/meet etc.

A daily doesn't have to actually be driven every single day ;)

Take the splitter off and its still fucking low isnt it!!!

Well i know full subframes come with uprated gearbox mounts.

But neither of those TCA braces came with uprated gearbox mounts. If they would have done then i would have put them the other way up, dont you think? :p

Theres deff no other way of putting them on lol.

where did you get it from?

The stage one that PPP does on here is the exact same as the silver one you have, it also comes with the uprated gearbox mount and the front 'geds' style front brace bar.

The important picture

SF06.jpg

Again as you can see its a full subframe, but the rear bar is exactly the same on them as a single TCA bar like what you have.

The gearbox mount is different to allow the bar to go over the top of the exhaust etc.

Asking about the gearbox mount:

How does that improve apone the standard item? was looking at mine yesterday and looks quite meaty compared with that.

though i cant remember exactly as i wasnt looking at it too much.

Won't give any improvement alone- but allows you to fit the rear tca/chassis leg brace which can't be fitted with a standard mount.

Cheers

Pete

Hope this clears some stuff up

If you can get hold of a gearbox mount on its own.. then it wont be so close to the floor :D

the subframe does catch and then the rest of the car does too. yes the rubber does flex but makes a cool noise as it scrubs as u hit any slight bump in the road. and tht was before i lowerd it onto proper springs and not standard chopped ones

only -40mm atm but i want lower so I'm getin some cash for coilies :p
