Polo 1.4 Tdi Fuel Problems

Hi Guys,

I have a 2003 Polo 1.4 tdi 3 cyl which is currently not starting due to some sort of fuel problem.

At first the car was being driven and it felt like the turbo had gone as power was significently reduced. We turned the car off and it would not come back on. No error messages are being shown in the dash at all. When you try to start the engie it ticks over perfectly but wont start up, We have tried to spray fuel into the air intake and it started. The fuel lines look perfect and fuel is being pumped up the the fuel pump on the side of the engine but is being pumped back through the overflow pump. The glow pugs looks perfect.

We have purchased a vag error message scanner which we pluged in and 4 codes were displayed but most of them were not in the error message book and a search on google showed this information

17911/P1503 - Load signal from Alternator Term. DF: Range/Performance / Implausible Signal

Possible Causes

* Alternator faulty

* Voltage Regulator faulty

* Wiring and/or connections faulty

Possible Solutions

* Check / Replace Alternator

* Check / Replace Voltage Regulator

* Check wiring and connections

* Check the fuse box that is in the battery tray, it might be burnt, the fuse or the complete plastic box (pretty common failure on Sharan because it carries so much electrical load). If so, change the complete fuse box, it is not too expensive fix if this is the cause.

17964/P1556 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation

Possible Symptoms

* Reduced power output

* Limp mode

Possible Causes

* Boost Pressure too Low

* Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected or leaking

* Charger Pressure Control defective

o VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck

* Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective

Possible Solutions

* Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components

* Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)

* Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control

o Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

16485/P0101/000257 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms

* Loss of Power

* Erratic Idle

Possible Causes

* Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) faulty

* Air Leak(s) after Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

* Intake Air Filter dirty/faulty

* Ground Spots corroded or Paint Residue

* Wiring and/or Connections from/to Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) faulty

Possible Solutions

* Check Intake Air Filter

* Check Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

* Check Ground Spots

* Check Wiring and/or Connections from/to Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

00533 - Idle Speed Regulation: Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded

Possible Symptoms

* Bad Fuel Economy

Possible Causes

* Air Leak between Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor and Engine

* Injector(s) faulty

* Fuel Pressure Regulator faulty

* Throttle Body faulty

* Intake Air Filter dirty

Possible Solutions

* Perform Throttle Body Adaptation

* Check Hoses and Pipes to/between Components

* Check Intake Air Filter

* Check Fuel Pressure Regulator

* Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve

* Check Injector(s)

Any one have any ideas what it could be and what I should try first?
