Rats

how do it get my head lights like that? looks sweet!

Why post up all the pics again just to ask that?! and they're probably tinted, or have yellow filters stuck on.

Have no idea why someone would want to rat a mk4 ultimate FAIL :retard:

tinting spray

I PERSONALLY* cant see why people make their headlights yellow, just makes it look like a taxi, and if yellow headlights are 'rat' what makes the headlights turn naturally yellow?

*IMO of course :smirk:

When you leave glass to rot away in a feild, it starts to stain. Have a look around a robbed car dumping place (you should have loads near you, living in Leeds :-p:lol: ) where they get burnt out and smashed up, youll see lots of different coloured mouldy glass :-)

I hate it when people class certain mods and touches to certain modding styles, for example - matt paint or yellow lamps or stickers and roof racks to "rat look"

Its just like saying an extreme body kitted car thats had the kit smoothed into the cars body is euro, afterall the general theme of a typical 'euro' styled car is to smooth everything and get it resembling a bar of soap

I love these kinds of threads, it brings out a passionate side of me :lol:

isnt manchester worst place for car crime in the country, and how many of your vehicles have been nicked :ninja::-p

But that aside, i had no idea fire made glass turn yellow, but still, why make your car look burnt out?

Yeah that was tongue in cheek  Manchester is hot for robbery  so far I've had 3 cars, a £4.5k quad and a £2k crosser pinched. Plus my last flat was robbed twice

The glass stains from just being left to rot, fire does stain it too

I'm still lol'ing a bit at "theres sum right shitters in this thread"

tbh i class my car as a rat, even though it is obviously forced etc... well apart from the front wing.. tbh its my car and i love the way it looks and doing random things to it.

hope this helps the person that started the thread.

See that with the red wheel trims looked good if you removed all the stickers. But now it just looks crap. Looks like its trying to hard not to give a fuck but it conforms to the check list for a 'rat' car. I like rat, I love rats but theres so many cars that are just shit. Its even worst when people get a car in good condition and just wreck it. If your going to build something rat why not start out with something thats naturally tatty over the years and continue with the theme.

I used to be happy to say I'm into rat cars but now it just seems like a band wagon for idiot heads who can't be arsed to take care of there cars.

Thats just my 2 cents though.

time and effort is exactly what it took to get my car to look like that mate.. i still have all of the original stuff so i can swap and change as i please...

have you ever tried rusting a bonnet? it took me a few weeks to do mine...

as for forking out for 4 new tyres so i could get my teardrops on my slammed polo with as little scrubbing as possible there is the money. at the end of the day this guy just wanted some pics of rat cars..

so why not just post a pic or just shut up.

if you can put a car back to original by swapping stuff over then it's not rat tbh, it's just a car with crusty stuff stuck on it. with a rat car you either go all out or don't even bother because it's just going to be lame

and rusting a bonnet and buying new tires is hardly effort, look at some of the air cool rats posted in this thread, now that's time and effort.

This pisses over everything regardless of wether its rat or not. Shame it died on the weekend.

really? what happened to it? that car was just full of win imo

After the semi hit it, apparently the frame cracked. the guy never really noticed it, theres a full thread on stanceworks. The thing had done 400k!

didn't the simi hit it about 1-2 years ago and that's why he went ratty with it? or has it been hit again?

same thing, but the frame wasnt repaired or some shit, so he hit a bump and it ripped it to bits :(

Lovin those yankee air cooled rats. Notice the mint interiors, wheels, exhausts and sorted suspension. Proper motors with the charismatically aged bodies untouched.

I believe its possible with a Polo. Early MK2 thats been used and abused for decades in hostile environments, looking absolutely hanging. Engine/suspension/interior overhaul but no make-up for the rot-free and straight but heavily weathered and scuffed up body. Might be best to go to Portugal/Malta/Spain for such a solid sand-blasted sun-scorched shell.

Slackers gets close to a replica. Doesn't look like he's bothered/funded a real one but the passenger side gets close for appearance. But for anything that indicates it being sorted technically (wheels, exhaust etc) being missing. This leaves it looking hanging and just generally repulsive all the way through. Like the interior's gonna make you ill,and its likely to break down.

That to me isn't rat (nor is fresh primer),but i think his rat is different because i think this latter evolution is what he wants.

Each to their own,but whilst i believe a rat Polo is possible,I've not seen one yet.

hahahaha

this is ace

and the reaction its getting off people=job done!

Problem is.... When this style first came about, people did think 'omg look at that car'

But the state of some of these now (loads of stencils, matt paint, wonky number plates ect ect) just makes people think 'omg, what a idiot'.

The whole 'rat look' thing just got really old, really quick. Which is a shame because although there's so much potential for them to look different, they rarely do.
