I like the 6N but that Arosa looks like the Michelin Man!

Na the Arosa does not look quite right imo

i must say i likie what walch did, but the bora style front looks rank, it needs indies!!! that 1st arosa looks like its on steds lol

It's the smooting on the bumper that makes the arosa look odd less smoothing and it'll look alright.

I'll take it with three then.

all i got done last night was to refit most of the dash and generally tidy the inside up.

arosa10210001.jpg

today after much indecision over the whole frowned bonnet work i decided to go for a straight badboy bonnet

arosa10210002.jpg

after i marked it up i changed my mind and added 30mm to the straight part then go up at a slant from there so i chopped them down

arosa10210003.jpg

arosa10210004.jpg

then filed the edges, i was happy with the shape so i ran a seam weld around the inside of the bonnet and ground down the outer welds

arosa10210006.jpg

arosa10210007.jpg

once they were flattened i threw on some filler, while the filler was curing i dug out some mk4 golf colour coded handles and stuck one in the drivers door

arosa10210021.jpg

i shaped the filler close to where i want it

arosa10210015.jpg

arosa10210016.jpg

arosa10210017.jpg

arosa10210018.jpg

then before i could put the next skim of filler on it started to snow so i threw some paint on to protect it 'til tomorrow

haha, it did cross my mind but, this is project budget box which has a budget of 1k, i'm upto just over £500 so far with buying the car, bigger brakes, coilies, engine/box/loom etc, wheels and steering wheel.

it's currently at around 830kgs with a 1.4 16v 100bhp motor

so using this http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp

it says it all works out to this;

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 100

Weight without Driver (KG) : 830

Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 122.42

0 - 60 (Secs) : 8.62

0 - 100 (Secs) : 26.30

60 - 100 (Secs) : 17.68

Quarter Mile (Secs) : 17.12

Terminal Speed (MPH) : 80.68

Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.92

Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 82.06

i'll try and lose a bit more weight too, also decatted it with a lighter free'er flowing exhaust and air filter.

i got my pulley in the post from Saf (lifesaver) so timed it up, refitted the aux belt, cambelt covers and engine mount. my budget ebay silicon elbow came in the post too so i mocked up a filter with some bits laying around,

filled it up with anti freeze and ran it up.

arosa11210001.jpg

as soon it was warmed up it all settled down nicely, idle stabilised and tappets quietened down (where the oil had drained of from being stood) heaters all worked and the fan cut in at the right temp.

i didn't get alot done tonight but it's still progress and i know it all runs fine now.

Olly

wow.. your a legend lol.

  • Author

Olly

haha - glad you got it, you didn't say you wanted it clean! i didn't charge for the oil residue so you win there! :-D

Olly

yep its made alot of use, i scraped it all out and put it into my sump :)

Seriously it took me about 2 hours to get it all out from underneath lol

HORRIBLE, it was like some thick brown toothpaste, but then about another hour to polish it up nicely.

Hope it fits the Mk3 head :) ,

Oh yeah and it was expertly packed, 10/10 for that mate, that also took me ages to get into lol.

Cheers mate
