Bored of Your Lambo?

Nice work and excellent finish, but that rear end is nasty! Would rather have the Lambo standard or a Roush Mustang.

I dont like it,but then i didn't like it before so meh.

Nice thing to be able to do,but in reflection to a couple of other comments, wrong choice of body. Not entirely because the fat-arse Mustang isn't the most asthetically pleasing thing my eyes have been in line with, more that its styling is shaped greatly by it being front-engined.. Nice bulging big bonnet, nothing underneath - where a proper throbbing big-block V8 belongs. Probably more an insult to the Americans than the Italians, then.

No,much better to have put it in the front of a Z3, XJS, or the rear of a 2dr Jetta (all popular in the US).

Sorry, I was wrong to point a stick at everyone, i was just a bit pissed at all the comments.

It was just how narrow minded everyone was, as soon as they read he had used a lambo as a donor car it was as if he had set fire to the beyeux tapestry. I dont see anyone mourning the loss of the mustang he cut up. Anyone with half a brain will realise that all he has done with the lambo is change the way it looks, its the mustang thats had its heart ripped out. I call that a waste, not what happened to the lambo. No one is asking why he didnt use a mustang with a blown up engine. Put a gay italian supercar in the picture and everyone goes all weak at the knees.

how has the mustang been wasted? it's had all the shit ripped out and replaced by superior parts. i also sense a lot of resentment for the lambo from you, one min it's poncy, the next it's gay, is that some kinda of jealousy i sense??

and was every one being narrow minded? or did they just think he was an idiot? surely we are entitled to our opinion now even if it isn't the same as yours?

And you dont have any room to talk mr lovin. Look at you jumping on the hate bandwagon, critisizing his chassis, which I thought actually looked very well constructed (and many high spec race cars use box section BTW). But the bloke hasnt set out to improve the handling of the lambo, suddently everyone turns into the passionford forum that only a month ago everyone was critisizing for the way they couldnt see the point of mods that werent strictly for performance. Hypocritical?

so because i hate it i'm jumping on a band wagon? that's such a retarded thing to say, so if more than two people agree on some thing it becomes a bandwagon now? :retard:

as for the box section he's taken a chassis that has had millions of pounds and hundreds of hours of design and development put in to and replaced it with some thing that looks like some thing i could knock up in my shed. i can't help it if i find that amusing

Like someone else pointed out, the lambo is no enthusiasts car, just a well engineered, expensive, comfy, fast, sports car, and all the well engineered bits now live in a (slightly odd looking) mustang, big deal.

I'm obviously biased because I'm not a fan of the lambo, I dont view it as any sacrelige either as its a pretty new car, so its abscence will just mean that the lambo factory has to turn out an extra one next year. Like I've said I dont see that the lambo was wasted, it has pretty much all been used in the mustang, its the mustang parts that have been wasted, althogh being Roush I'm sure they will have just flogged them on.

all the well engineered bits now live on in the mustang? really? what about the bits that were replaced by the childs climbing frame?

I'm with you on the scrappage scheme too, it seems poor for the environment and destructive to the classic car scene of the future.

so it's find to destroy the lambo (lets face it it doesn't exist any more so it's been destroyed) but you are agaist the scrapage scheme because they are destroying cars?

Hahah am i the only one who thinks thats actually pretty cool in a ridiculous sort of way?

nope. it is ridiculous in a pretty cool way. perhaps the chap liked both so cars so much, he wanted a mix of the two?

The back end is horrible but nothing that couldnt be fixed to make it one hell of a car.

Alright alright enough of this, we will clearly never agree.

As for me 'resenting' the lambo, maybe I do. The lamborghinis of times gone by were built with passion and skill, each one assembled by hand. They made real noise and had radical styling, driving one was (I'm guessing) an 'experience', maybe not even a pleasant one. Unfortunatly now its just so, erm, german. Not that its their fault, its just the way modern cars are.

Of course these days a car enthusiast is just someone who watches top gear, and the lamborghinis people gawp at now are nothing but a pile of plastic and electronics. Just a genetic child of a modern design/manufacturing process. Nothing involves any passion anymore, everythings just a compromise between several quantifiable parameters.

The lambo is just a car that is built to look 'expensive'. There are much faster things, for less brass, its just a massive penis extension. Anyone who just wanted a fast car that they could go to work in everyday would buy a quick porsche and pull all the stickers off it. Or a nissan GTR.

With all this 'what a waste' carry on we are also assuming that it was second hand, thus taking one lambo off the road. But he may well have bought it new, which surely would clear his record of 'criminal acts against cars'. Because if he hadnt have bought it then it would never have been made. He has just given some more money to lambo to let them spend it on developing the next model.

These days to get a 'real' car you have to look to the smaller companies, lotus still seem to be able to pull it off.

at the end of the day... if you got offered it you wouldnt turn it down...

i think its pretty pimp :L

just admire it for what it is.. not what it was/used to be

just admire it for what it is..

What it is.. Fuck ugly?!

I'm sorry, as with any polo, or VW for that matter.. I can respect it as a project and appreciate all the time that has gone into it.

But just as with any barry boys car or rat look piece of shit, it don't mean I have to like it!

Show me a video of it on a track or just driving about and I might change my mind though..

A nissan GTR as a daily for less brass than a lambo??? Thats the stupidest thing i've heard today. Servicing and maintanance costs for a GTR are stupidly expensive, i would say more than an equivilant ferrari or lamborghini

Its so funny how people seem to try justify jealousy (maybe?) by trying to act sensible and money smart, when they cant accept it when people can actually afford to throw money around on expensive luxuries

I wouldnt say they're penis extensions, they're just cars that are in a league of their own, Exotica...

fair enough you can get fast cars for cheaper, but its the same as comparing going on holiday to butlins or st lucia. If you can afford to take your wife away to st lucia for your honeymoon you definately arent going to think 'fuck it we'll just go butlins' are you?

Hmm, I struggle to agree on a lot of those points. I have no idea how much a lamboghini like the one this bloke used is, but surely its nearly double the £50k a new GT-R costs? And the GT-R may well need more servicing (although I wouldnt have a clue tbh) but at least you can take it to the local nissan garage and pay £40 an hour instead of having to go to a specialist ferrari place and pay £80 an hour no doubt.

Give me the GT-R over the lambo anyday, its more subtle, stylish, tasteful etc. And probably a lot faster.

Anyone who's dream car is a modern ferrari or lamborghini is surely just a spoon. I just cant grasp how it can be the 'ultimate' in anything but the name. I know they both build special editions etc that actually do the business on a track or whatever but the basic factory ones are just cars for wealthy people who dont know anything about cars, footballers etc, that just buy it because its a ferrari so it must be good. Give me a black range rover any day over any of them, thats a car for wealthy people with taste.

I know what your on about jealousy but not in this case I'm afraid, I was sticking up for the bazillionaire who cut up his lambo dont forget.

My £100k would get spent of 4 seperate cars, each one of them waaay cooler than any lambo, well, not cooler than this one.....

1985-Lamborghini-Countach-White-Front-An

I've got at least 3 cars at the moment that are in my eyes cooler than any modern lambo or ferrari. I bet no one else thinks so though, its all down to taste I suppose.

Thats a serious contradiction IMO. You always see pics of footballers and their wives driving black range rovers!

Quite what a Range Rover's got to do with it,i cant imagine. I can out-drag the fastest standard one available in my bloody Polo,i dont think the average Ferrari customer is going to go for that.

The likes of Tiff Needel seem to enjoy the italian motors well enough on the track, and people pay to be a passenger in such cars when driven by experienced hands on various racing circuits.

To suggest a Range Rover is going into extreme taste and preference mode - which is precisely what this topic is about.

The Sultan of Brunei has had some bizarre cars made, such as a 5dr Bentley Continental R estate, and I'm sure some questioned the mentality behind the Ferrari Daytona estate, but these people have the money to have whatever car they want. So what if there's some butcherism involved? How does it affect you? The bloke wanted a cross between a Lambo and a Mustang. So he did it. Fair play to him. Not my taste, but still.

i'm sorry but you go on about modern lambos being penis extensions then you post up that picture and say that it's cool...

hypocrite much? i do agree that the countach was hella cool i had posters of it on my wall as a kid, but these cars were the ultimate penis extension surely? owned by yuppies who had no interest in the car and only had it as a status symbol and by all accounts they were terrible to drive, they weren't built to be racing car's, they were built as a status symbol, if footballers back then were on the kind of money they are today they would be driving that car.

but as you say it was a cool car, just like the modern lambo's, they are the countach for a new generation, you may not think that it's a cool car but i bet all the kids with posters of them on their walls dreaming of one day owning them will strongly disagree, just like if some one tried to tell me a countach wasn't a cool car when i was a kid...

Countach wing mirrors cost £2000.

thanks for that Giorgio

you couldnt contradict yourself any more in one post

lambos and ferraris are in a different league to most other cars. you can say 'blah blah blah would beat it on a 1/4 mile' etc, but in real life supercars tear pretty much everything a new arsehole [unless a stupid amount has been spent on that individual car]. thats why they can justify charging such a premium. people dont buy them 'because they must be good'. they buy them because they ARE good

and heres a lambo for £53k.

here is a list of GT-Rs for sale

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list.asp?s=783

id take the lambo all day every day

also in the city centre of most cities car like these are not uncommon at all. cars like these are reserved for the fairly well off, but not super rich tbh

Edited by doug

also in my opinion the GTR is the ultimate fast car for people that cant drive

the computers do fooking everything!

Yeah, it's a shame to waste any car, but as above, it all depends how you look at it, whether you think the Mustang's cooler than the Gayardo.

Basically, if fashion labels and money impress you, it's all about the lambo. If power, rough edges, and a "fuck you" attitude is more you, then a Mustang's a dream car.

Someone mentioned Range Rovers. It's a bit like would you rather have a brand new top spec Range Rover, or a Bowler Wildcat?

thanks for that Giorgio

I only know that because somebody (not me) smashed one off a car at a workshop. Dont see all the fuss. When you own a Lambo do what the fuck you want to it.

Just fit one off one of these instead?

Cool - a mk1 fiesta in the garage next door??

Yeah but it'll weigh three ton so i'll probably still be able to out drag it. The current supercharged Sport isn't exactly weedy, and still takes nearly eight hours to get to sixty..

1600i - the C pillars are too upright for a Fiesta. At first i thought Nova but given its height and the width of the tailgate I'm going for Fiat Panda. Not too unlikely given there's another Fiat on the drive.

definitely a panda i reckon ..

nobheads, pricks, and now jealous all because we don't like some thing...

Opinion Nazi's

I agree. I don't like the car, I'm not bothered if someone has spent a million pounds on something if it looks shit then it looks shit. Just like if someone spent a million pounds on something and it looks good then it looks good. I'm not the kind of person who is bothered about people having silly money and just getting jealous over it. They've obviously worked hard for whatever they've got and they are enjoying it so fair play. But I'm not just going to bum something they have done just because they have splashed out loads of cash on it. I like the idea and it doesn't look bad from the front but the back just looks gash imo.
