You sure it isn't a cloned advert.

The more expensive one is the genuine one, the other is a fake?

Yeah i'd say cloned... but still i dont get why the guy would put his real number up, i bet he's had a barrage of calls haha.

OR, the guy doesn't have pictures of the car he's selling, so he's nicked some from another advert....

Well i've just phoned both numbers from the adverts and got totally different stories from each person, so something's defo dodgy..

Whole point is that you'd arrange to go view the cloned one, then you'd get mugged.

Same thing is going on with an S3 on Pistonheads and eBay.

What is the world coming to?

Shouts dodgy when you hear a mint mk1 escort is only worth £200! I dont know my fords but even i know they're worth more than that by a long way :(

seems a bit extreme for 200 quid though? i get why it would be worth the effort for the sort of money an S3 would go for, but 200 pounds? especially when they could of priced the same car up at say 2k for a quick sale and would still have people turning up with the cash in the hope of a bargain...

it's all very strange indeed :?

Bloody hell that is a minter

4 doors arent really worth that much though are they?

Call me cynical (which I am) but it stinks of either cloned add or publicity stunt to me.

I cant even remember now lol, was a woman each time, talking rubbish about their partner got the car for sale etc but wasnt available, and neither knew anything about the other advert.. one kept asking to take my number so her husband could phone me back but i was like let me hang up you slag..

yeah let me take your number down so i can let my husband talk you into veiwing the car were he can steal you money and car

they didn't used to be worth much but the prices of them have been steadily increasing as time goes on to the point of mint four door's going for the price that mint 2 doors were a few years ago. that's what i found when i was looking at them a bit back any way. i would say that if that ones got 50k on it's over priced, although if it had the 17k that the add states then i guess that's a whole different story, people will pay a premium for a classic car with low millage, how often do you see a mk1 escort in that sort of condition and millage for sale these days?

and yeah there's some thing fishy about that add

Its not the classic car factor though, its a classic Ford. They've been going for silly money, the scene covers everything from modded/custom shows to genuine motorsports and the spare/upgraded parts business is massive.

Anything that's '60s/'70s Ford and rwd is commanding money. Find an old MK2 escort 1.3L like beige over stonechip on 90s Halfords wheel trims and covered in moss in the front garden of a tatty terraced house and value that? Let me give you a starting figure - £2,500.

Four doors dont put people off these days, the car pictured is worth thousands. There's a tatty blue 1.1 4dr on the bay, might be an interesting watch over the next four days.

As for the Gumtree advert, the wording just doesn't match up to the car - seems granny liked Minilites and Delta Evos..

Do you all not see whats happened?

The granny has bought it off the classic car place for £4.5k because she was really cool and retro.

The unfortunatly she passed away and her son or grandson whatever got the car.

They have no idea what the car is and think 50,000miles is high mileage...roll the clock back to 17,000 advertise it as 1 owner from new and let it fly out the door for £200.

Thats the only way I can see to explain the advert ages, prices and mileages.

Yeah, and maybe she married an alien too and is now living the life of a 20 year old on plannet sprok

the advert (second one) £4495 is the genuine one as a mate knows the owner of the escort

Thought you might know of it somehow
