Saw another tonight (this damn thread has got me looking at all the reg plates i see )

Was on a Jag - WHS 1. It had some 'official' looking symbols stuck on the rear doors, like you see on Mayors cars etc

In Germany a personal plate was only an extra 20 Deutschmarks. You got to pick the middle two letters (but nothing linked to world war II or the nazis) and the numbers. The first two letters were the region where you lived.

Fortunately for me I lived in Darmstadt so I got DA-VD 12 on a new tornado red Polo GT.

Coming out of Stuttgart I saw a big black merc limo with a boomerang aerial with the number plate

S-EX 69. I drew level on the Autobahn in my little Polo and peered inside.

It had ... black windows.

Much later I lived in Heppenheim. A garage offered to redo the registration for me (on an Audi)

if I paid them for the exhaust test. They got me HP-EE 515. Could have been worse I suppose.

Round here quite a few people have A10 or ELY plates because they live in Ely or near the A10.

I've seen PO05 EAT on a plumber's van in a hotel I stayed in - that amused me.

Chap called Andy Cohen who was one of the old G40 crew bought a TVR Tuscan with the plate UR02 SLO, think he's got it on a Z4 now.

And there was this (taken a few years ago when cameras on 'phones were a bit of a token effort...) parked up outside a restaurant in Sheffield. M4 FYA - on a tinted-up RR.

PIKEY is also on a VW Transporter van,not sure of exactly how its spelt.
