Will this be alright?

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 98 6n Polo and I'm looking to lower it and put some alloys on it.

Pretty much just need to know if this would work or if I needed anything different.

These wheels, but with 195/45 tyres, or would 195/50 be okay even?

And these springs

Would that all be good and work, or would I need shock absorbers with the springs or anything else?

Cheers, Rich

your are better off not buy the alloys the now and use the money to buy some coilovers dude. springs are okay for the short term but you will have to eventually get coilovers due to wear on the shocks/bump stops on the factory suspension set up :)

Yeah thought about that, but the standard wheels are just horrible haha, plus I need 2 new front tyres for them at the mo, which would be an extra £80 towards alloys, so i'd rather get alloys first and save up for coilovers for a bit later on, not gonna stay on springs forever :)

So is that all good, don't need anything else?

Why do you *need* coilovers? What's wrong with getting a set of shortened shocks, lowering springs, and good quality bump stops?

i am running about 90mm on the back with 7J 195/45/15 but its a 6n2. and just rubs with 1 person in the back. dno if this is any help??

Naw I'm good thanks, 90's bit too low for me :p

You might get a bit of rub on the rear with passengers. Maybe some on full lock aswell.

Hm you recon on only 60? Ross Gti is on 90 and said his only rubs with rear passengers.

50 profiles are alot more chunky, I'd go with the 45 profiles to avoid scrubbing.
