i flash my fogs if the other car (any car) has there fogs on and it isnt foggy

I also do this, for some reason i get proper pissed at people with fogs on. :|

I usually flash / wave / thumbs up an fellow dubber. Most of the time get a reply,, but the odd occasione just get a weird look.

People without lights on the worst, i nearly have a fit at the wheel..

fog lights and side lights when its not foggy = cock it just isn't cool.

i flash or give a thumb up to nice dubs, community is pretty good in northampton so you usually get something back

Without meaning to continue sounding like a politician,i do have a point that should be considered amongst the laughter.

People die on Britains roads everyday, and a common cause is by confusing signalling.

A flash of the headlights through being polite does kill people quite regularly.

One example a few miles south of MK was when a lorry flashed an on-coming lorry of the same company to say hi. A motorist pulled out a side road, presumably thinking the lorry was flashing him to do so. Not that anyone will ever know,as the motorist died at the scene.

If you're gonna go around flashing your lights at other motorists, realise its illegal and kills people.

Mikey with all due respect, i can't see how you have any right to lecture any body about road safety when you used to openly brag on public forums about what kind of high end car's you had raced and beat on public roads... or were all the race's done within the highway code?

For one,i dont race on public roads and have made it clear in each case I've spoken of that its merely overtaking,or being overtaken,on suitable roads. My town is a grid of dual carriageways and is made up entirely of many quarter mile stretches. This means that whilst acceleration is often a factor amongst our roundabout-infested town, top speed is not.

Quite what your bent and theoretical view of my driving style has to do with my reporting pure facts about actual (and actual causes of) accidents that happen,i have no idea.

You wouldn't be targeting my image in an attempt to devalue my point, would you?

Other day i saw a really nice modded MK1 caddy, gave him a nod, he pulled up next to me, then ignored me, then he tried to race me, obviously i'm a 1litre so i drive round max speed of 5mph everywhere, then when i didn't race he slowed right down and was looking at me like i had shit on his strawberries out the rear view... Don't know if it was because i'm in a new-ish polo.

Do all old schoolers hate the new stuff?

Mikey to be fair.. what you claimed was backed up with one case that was close to you. It doesn't mean it happens 'regularly' and 'all the time'.

I've never heard of anyone actually dying from misinterpreted flashing..

And in that case you described, what fool pulls out of a junction if it is unsafe to do so? If I saw a lorry flash whilst it made no attempt to slow down, I wouldn't pull out. There was nothing stopping the person being flashed using their own judgement and waiting.

You do have a valid point in that it can be dangerous, but I'm sure most of us will be able to make a call on when it's safe and when it's not. And by the way you come across, I'm sure you could too.

^^ It is illegal though, which kinda invalidates most of the topic much like one on italic plates.

Its illegal because it kills people.

Another example of common flasher death is the one where you're turning right, someone's waiting to pull out,so you flash them.

All good, they can pull out earlier and you can cut the corner. Problem is,they cant always see the car behind you - so you're undertaken as you pull to the right and the undertaking car then ploughs into the car that's just pulled out.

This happens quite regularly, according to a documentary i watched but cant remember the source.

Flashing is illegal and kills people. Its that simple. Sorry to be a killjoy..

sorry but when i leart to drive the insrtuctor said thet you should ignore signals from drivers and not move till your sure what they are doing therfore isnt it still there fualt if they pull out

also bumps in the road can make it appear that you are flashing some one

driving instructor aside people do assume that when someone flahes thier lights that its a go,when it isnt

a kid at work found this out, undertook on the account that its clear from another driver and wrote off his new pug, losing on the insurance now as a result

i accept that someones flashed me to proceed but still take caution just incase,I'm driving the vehicle so am liable if i have a bump, the person who flashed isnt

my 'bent and theoretical' view of your driving was brought up because from what i remembered you used to tell us about what fast car's you had beaten in your polo, to beat a car you have to be racing it in one shape or form or you haven't beaten it you've just driven past it lol. if 2 car's are accelerating against each other (even if they don't break the speed limit) they are racing are they not?? which is illegal and at least as dangerous if not more than flashing at some one driving a polo. you were getting on your high horse saying we were all guilty of illegal and dangerous driving activity's, i was just pointing out that you had admitted worse in the past so i couldn't see how you had the right to lecture us.

'let he who is without sin cast the first stone'.

speed doesnt kill.

Its the rather abrupt squishy messy stop at the end of it :)

yes flashing is dangerous for the few simpletons that cant make there own decisions whilst driving but most of time people get the point, ^^^ if your within the speed limits fast acceleration isn't really dangerous

^^^ if your within the speed limits fast acceleration isn't really dangerous

but it's still against the law and seen as dangerous in the eye's of the law. just like flashing, which isn't dangerous except for the simpletons on the road that can't think for themselves as said above.

btw i think that the local lad that was killed a few years back when his mate accelerated fast in his new Ferrari, lost control and hit a tree might beg to differ that fast accelerating isn't dangerous

Edited by McLOVIN

theres a difference between fast accelerating cars. and retarded drivers

they dont make for a good combination

naturaly

if some one flashes their headlights at you then it means they are working, that is it! same for indicators and horns.

I Hardly Ever See And Polos Round My Way , Hopfully See More When I Move To Derby .

Getting back on the subject yes i usually just smile & nod, nice gesture which doesn't cause hassle :) I think its always been the same for many years in the car scene, people with the same car (taste) have respect for each other which is cool i think 8-)

Exiting onto a dual carriageway and accelerating harder than the car in the left lane is not racing. I've never claimed to race, but i have claimed to sprint up to speed quickly and in comparison to other cars doing the same. If you think they're all racing then i contest that, when they're still as likely to be driving with due care and attention, and to the conditions,as anyone plodding along.

But that's irrelevant. There are bikers around here doing 0-60 in less than four seconds past my estate, yet I'm not so inclined to deny them their facts on road safety.

And even if i was a dangerous tosspot driver, that still wouldn't't disqualify me from pointing out the correct answer to this topic.

Is that not fair? Or does it not matter who's wrong or right here?

Whoooooo saaaaaaaa, Say it with me now. Whhhhhhhoooooooooooo saaaaaa. :smirk:

It's not illegal, if you read your Highway Code, you'll find that a flash of the headlights has once meaning and one only in law and that is to inform someone of your presence.

Umm the question was "do dubbers flash lights or wave at each other?" of course you can give your point of view, and if you don't do it - that's fair enough. But there's no need to get on your high horse about it and acting above everyone who does do it.

so technically, its legal to flash other dubbers?

I thought that was for your audible warning device.

wow, another thread gone to shit.

i always give "dubbers" or nice modded cars a flash. it's all good fun.
