lol same here, it's done about 15 miles on the duct tape so far and I'm taking her to Phil's tomorrow so he can sort a zorst rattle at the same time.

Thinking about going up to north london this evening but I prolly shouldnt really

glad you like the cam cover, its a bit tatty due to it being from ebay and all, but it's not too bad.

@ mk2cmy if you take the cam cover back off you can probably get the bolt out with mole grips, I've not tried this as I don't have a new bolt for it anyway and want to sort my exhaust rattle too. If you end up having to drill it out be really careful about little shards of metal getting in the head.

you should be ok with the duct tape on there, i drove mine a fair old way until i got it sorted to be fair. i put new duct tape on there every day if that helps lol

Just wanna send a big thanks to Phil (Jackson Tuning) for sorting the sheared bolt and a new gasket (one that fits!) AND sorting an exhaust rattle. What a guy! The car is just about at a place where I am happy with it and everything works. All I need to do now is roll the arches, I hit a bump yesterday on the way to Phils that took a HUGE amount of rubber off my NSF tyre - oops - next stop arch enemy.

Cheers mate, was lovin the van myself :)

The engine bay is a work in progress, it's looking a bit better without the duct tape now :-D

need to sort out a better looking way of getting the air in too, not sure what I'll do yet.

when they fitted the carb did they remove the resticter wedge ?

i found with the gk manifold de restricter wedged and the carb heater hedghod thingy smoothed mine was running the same iff not better than a gt .

it foooocking flew for what it was

where is the restrictor wedge?

how do i smooth the "carb heater hedghod thingy" and what is it?

guessing thats not the corrugated tube going from the mani? I think that feeds hot air to keep the carb from icing?

lol I'm so confused

edit - just read up a bit and i realise what you're on about now but I still dont know what the restrictor wedge and hedgehog are/look like

ill find some pics and post them up later dude

Awesome, that really is appreciated mate, totally makes sense now, thanks!

:-D:thumbsup:

Just a by-the-way, would smoothing the heater not cause icing in cold weather? I imagine there is a reason it's there.

oh and cheers monkey, glad you like em

itll still heat it . just gives it less restriction

i think my mates got my old gk inlett laying around at his . if you are intrested

Finally managed to get the arches rolled today after taking some serious chunkage out of my NSF tyre over a particularly criminal bump. It's something I'd been wanting to do, but for a while I thought I could get away without doing it until I hit the aforementioned bump. Feeling like a bit of a pussy (one that has no arch rolling tools) I got someone else to do it for me. I called ArchEnemy and a top bloke by the name of Paul came round to mine and spent the day toiling in the sun.

Here are some pics, the first one is just for the purists who hate seeing a 30k mile mk2 polo getting chopped to pieces. Look at those lovely OEM archguards that have been hacked to bits :)

P24-05-10_1639.jpg

I was shocked to see a complete lack of rot under the plastic arch covers as they usually hide all sorts of nasty surprises.

And here's Paul sorting out one of the rear arches:

P24-05-10_1426.jpg

He did an excellent job, didn't flake any of the paint and sealed everything back up nicely. Having said that I will still be taking some hammerite sealant stuff to it in a few days just in case.

so here she is at the moment waiting for the sticky stuff to set:

20mm rear spacers are now on the way

good stuff chap.

why can i never find a damn roof rack. i need one for my camping stuff :(

Dont pay more than you have to mate, they go for silly money these days but I got that Desmo for just over a tenner delivered.

Actually I've been thinking of getting it chrome plated and chucking on some chrome 15x6 Fuchs, but don't tell anyone.

I've managed to find one. 25quid. picking it up thursday :)

I'm just using it for my camping equipment etc when i go on little trips away.

il be spraying mine just silver and treat the wood slats abit.

just been busy on my mk2 today. check my thread ;)

the cam nut is an easy fix i have snapped two get a pair of long nose pliers or flat screw driver and stick it in the hole turn slowly and it will come out be patient as it can take a few attempts but there only finger tight this is a very nice and clean mk2 looks awesome now keep up the good work bud

I cant wait for the spacers, they're taking ages. She could really use a bit more girth at the rear :unibrow:

A mate of mine will be helping me polish the roof rack next weekend, he's the Don of Polishing (wish I had all the right gear) and if I can talk him into it I'm gonna polish the whole car down to bare metal.

mmmmthen again, maybe not.

heres a bit of shameless whoring from prept at brands hatch yesterday, quite good for a mobile phone pic:

Prept-Shop.jpg

20mm aluminium hubcentric spacers should hopefully be here tomorrow?

Not sure what's next, maybe some nice OEM mudflaps? maybe some porsche fuchs and a g40 lump? maybe I'll become Prime minister? Will Sharon sleep with her psychiatrist? Will her husband find out? Stay tuned to find out...

the rack looks sweet, I'm polishing my one up today. autosol ftw!

i would of come down to prept, due to work i couldnt make it. I'm definatly going to the next prept meet. Be good to see the car in person B)
