as with most droptops any bloke driving it will look like a raging arsebandit.

At the end of the day, I started a thread about a car I wanted to buy, if you don't know what JDM is or can't even appreciate another brand of cars then I feel sorry for you, but not enough to keep arguing with you, love.

Andy I'd hardly call them rice. The images shown aren't overly modified or "chav'd up" (sorry for using chav on these forums, I know how much you lot hate it).

You will struggle to find another car with such quality stance with that kind of camber. it just fits the body shape perfectly.

Granted they used to be steriotyped as a hair dressers car but they definately have potential and would beat almost any 6n, (or polo for that matter), hands down on performance and aesthetics. 100% not gay, thats for sure.

VWs are generally a bit shit to drive in comparison to real drivers cars

I think the better GTI`s stack up pretty well against most and I`d still be driving my mk2 if I had the money.

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market but its commonly used to describe the Japanese car scene, see, over there they dont have the whole ''wow thats a hairdressers car, you must be gay if you drive one'', they tend to just get on with it..

I didnt play the age card, you ARE a kid. If you were my age you`d quite possibly agree about the MX5 and other stereotypes from when I was your age, like Skoda=skip and so on.

Not that I think the modern Skoda is a skip, far from it but its a good example.

They loook nice when they're 'done up' i'd have one any day but i wouldn't be able to get insured!

BTW Smithy i don't think that your plan on insure is going to work, it used to but last week i cancelled my policy the same day and Swinton charged me £80 :(

Depends what company it's with, I wouldnt mind paying a months insurance and that little admin fee, its just I cant really afford to take out a years policy..

The chance has passed now anyway lol, i'll probably get one next year.

my mates is G reg and genuinely immaculate, not a mark anywhere on it. 80k, 12month MOT and had been in dry storage for 6 years and he paid £1500

only thing wrong with it is that at some point in its life someone fitted lexus lights

also they're surprisingly cheap to insure! he is 21 but he doesnt even have any no claims or owt and he pays 900quid fully comp

End of the day, in standard form they do look girly as hell.

They're so rounded and "cute" looking. Just like the latest MR2 is a girly looking car, whereas the one before was the total opposite.

Doesn't matter what reputation it's got or how well it drives, doesn't change the way it looks.

For less than a grand though, can't go wrong!

For once, I think indy is the voice of reason. Even manly old me has considered buying an MX-5, after having a blast in my mates eunos in the wet, but I think it is generally accepted that if you want it to be a cool car you have to change it from standard. I was just going to brush paint one satin black and stick some old wellers on it. Make it look a little less girly.

Oh, and I was thinking it would be alright, I could get a hardtop for it so I wouldnt have to drive a convertable. They are crazy money on ebay. Like £500 for a second hand one.

That's the good thing though, for less than a grand i'd have change left for some decent wheels, suspension, front lip etc.. it wouldnt be standard for long lol..

I looove them. Either an MX5 or old MR2 as the next car!
