The best apprenticeships out there are probably electrical or plumbing... my local council was recruiting apprentice electricians a while back, started on £15.5k per year, 1 day a week at college, and you worked from 1 central place. Get to the office at 9, drive 2 hours to the house that needs work doing, leave in time to get back to the office for 5pm, and your finished. Was only a 2 year course and would have ended up on ~£35k per year.

i have a school mates who did an apprenticeship in plumbing and he always has loadsa cash atm well he defo likes flashing it anyway

hes still a fat fuck though, so i dont mind lol

As good as the money is, what if you really aren't into that kinda thing?

Id rather go after something i enjoyed doing, even if the money isn't amazing. Rather than doing a job a hate just for a bit of extra cash.

For my perfect job I would with no second thoughts cut 25% off my salary.... Its all about what u want to do matey!

same for me all my mates have very good jobs earning £40.000 plus

but all they do is moan about there job i earn roughly about £25.000 a year

i know what id rather be doing ilike my job thers always something different

to do everyday wether its shot blasting rusty mercs or new 1/4 panel on amg sl

at the end of the day if you enjoy your job doesnt matter what the money is

I'm in my last year off my apprenticeship now need I got to a VW college at Ruddington in Nottingham.

I work at a independant bodyshop working on presitige cars.

I love the job to bits and have made some really good mates there but do with some dickheads lol.

I'm not on brilliant money and some of my mates are on more money than me !! (One of them whos just brought a 03 plate Focus RS!! lol).

But like Rob said the love of the job is important because you dont want to be in a job you hate for the rest of your life even if it is good money, iv been there and done that !!

Eventually I would love to own my bodyshop :)

Just keep looking/asking around, make phone calls and send out CVs and something will turn up :)

he works around 90hrs a week [he only had 14hrs sleep last week] and doesnt pay himself a wage...he just works to keep the business open and get the jobs done for the expected date.

surely he must have health problems with only 14 hours of sleep n working that hard?

we was on about it, apprentley it costs around 90k to set up due to rent, electricity, heating, water, all the overheads etc

i think it cost him around £150k to set it up...it cost £50k for the spray booth alone.

ye he has a few, constant joint pains for one.

but hes a dedicated bloke and wants to succeed so he doesnt let it bother him.

you allowed to go in a do private jobs?

my work wont let us, but luckily for me my dads a panel beater by trade n hes got his own workshop but moving from that one and building a better one soon so il be using that at weekends :)

ye, i do my own car there ALOT.

he painted my wheels for nothing, re did my bumper for nothing, did both my 1/4 panels for nothing, did my seats for nothing.

if i do the prep work, hell throw the paint on for me.

all sounds good, I'm gonna get collage booked then though 6 week hol gonna look for apprentaship :Di really want to do this its exactly what i want, anyone know a collage near retford that does a course?
