Got to say fair play to everyone for not turning this into some kind of, "I'll spell how ever the fuck I want to" argument. Yeah you're and your are up there on my annoyances. I can put minor stuff like that aside though, it tends to be the truly idiotic mistakes that get me riled up :p

I'm the same iggi, I tend to find myself punctuating and spell checking my texts after I type them, god knows why. By the way McLOVIN, I think that was a little unnecessary, successfully managed to lower the tone of the whole thread there.

text messages are a completely different kettle of fish for me lmao! I'm just lazy when it comes to texting. touch screen phones are a pain in the ass!

I often do wonder if the majority of people with spelling difficulties are the ones who were "too cool for school" and laughed at those who wanted to learn and spent alot of time studying as opposed to hanging around on the streets.

Not at all dude, i was "too cool for school" and left halfway through year 10, but I'm pretty confident in my spelling/grammar

I do exagerate my mind though whilst typing/writing/texting etc to try and get everything correct

I'm not too bothered with people who clearly have difficulty with spelling, but when i see people who are deliberate with spelling/writing like a mongtard, i just think - idiot!

Personally i know I'm not the most clued up when it comes to spelling and grammer .

Dont get me wrong i have a good career although spelling has never been one of my strong points .

I'm sure it isnt that bad that it causes misunderstanding when posting on websites like this .

Apologies iff it winds people up

yur i hate people whos spelin and gwamma is not good it reely pisse"s me of!

It's not a question of the odd misplaced apostrophe or being unable to remember if it's "i before e except after c". Even text speak is readable even if it's unbelievably annoying. What amazes me is people sending pm's or even worse posting adverts for things thay hope to sell you that are basically unreadable, to the extent that even the general point of the message becomes totally ambiguous and you have to send a message to them asking for clarity. No full stops or commas for 5 lines of text also makes me doubt the ability of the seller to subsequently send you said item successfully if you buy it. You don't need A level English to write a forum post. It's basically just laziness. It drives me mental. I know that can be perceived as snobbery but it's not. Rant over.

By the way McLOVIN, I think that was a little unnecessary, successfully managed to lower the tone of the whole thread there.

well i think this thread is unnecessary, some people have difficulty spelling, do you think they need that rubbed in their face on a public forum that they use to get help and advice on their vw polo?

whether some one can't spell or is just too lazy what is that to do with you? if you struggle to read their post then don't read it it's pretty easy to tell a post that is poorly written just by glancing at it. no one is forcing you to read it, and if your life is so sad that you get upset by some one miss spelling words on some thing so meaningless and trivial as a post about what tires to fit on their polo then how sad must your life be?? seriously i have so much more important thing to get upset about that some one's spelling is so far down my list of worries it don't even register, even my choice of socks in the morning is more pressing than if some one used the wrong kind of 'your' on here

either accept that people on here are far from the best at spelling and grammar or go and use another site where they are all perfect because the spelling and grammar on here isn't going to get any better, so why waste time and band width pissing and moaning about some thing you can't change??

It has nothing to do with the likes of dyslexia,my brother's dyslexic and he knows the difference between brake and break - both words spelt correctly, they're two completely different words with different meanings.

As with bald/bold, your/you're etc etc.

Its not a reading/spelling issue but just shows complete disregard for those who tried to educate them with the Queens world-leadingly flexible language.

Hvaing siad taht,do you noicte taht you don't eevn need to sepll poreprly for poelpe to be albe to raed yuor witring eevn if it's tihs bad?

The difference is photographic recognition. You dont actually read words when you read, you merely recognise the shape of them. Every word in the paragraph above start and end with the correct letter, the other letters of the word are in there, and so you recognise the words quite normally.

This is different then been able too spell or knot, because in this sentance their are loads of grammar mistakes but know spelling mistakes. And this is moor the issue i think many have. You can't right like this in magazines, newspapers or even private adverts like this - so why write like it in emails/websites/forums?

Its not a question of prestige, but professionalism.

Yeah I think I might have offended the guy that types like that when I told him to fuck off and die.

what i can't understand is why people are saying it makes them angry that other peoples spelling or grammar is so bad, if this was a forum dedicated to some thing to do with writing or education then i could understand, but this is a site about vw polo's. it's a site where people come to pick up advice and tips on fixing or modifying their polo, why would you expect to come on here and find perfect grammar?

on this site you will get a lot of people that weren't very good at reading or writing (for what ever reason) but excelled at handy work, and most of these will be the people that then went on to learn and work on cars, some of these will be the people telling you how to swap an engine or change your clutch on here.

now how would you people that are smarter than thou when it comes to reading and writing but don't know your arse from your elbow when it comes to fixing cars like it if these people started threads on here about the dip shits that don't know how to set the timing on a 1992 polo GT? after all fixing polo's is what we are here for, not to learn grammar.

I think alot of us posting on touch screen phones as i am doing now and mostly do have a good excuse as they are a right bitch, well mine is anyway.

text messages are anoying as you cant even make sense of them any more, a prime example of this is the bit in the Ali-G film, by the time they find out what the message is trying to say it would have been faster to have spelt it poroper, u get me brav.

Bitch on a pension suck my dong.

The bringers annoy me, there is no excuse for saying you brought something that you actually bought....it just makes no sense!

As long as stuff is clear enough to understand though I think it's OK. Some posts just don't make sense.

I have to admit i have a habit of doing that.. but only with titles its the curse from my coursework :p

"i lve it wen people abreviate everytin evn wen dey jus missin 1 letter.."

is it that hard to include all the letters in the words..

Now i am going to contradict myself and agree with blondie sometimes i do it when i am typing fast :D

this thread is telapathic...

I don't think I could pull off text talk if I tried, it's something I've never done. My texts are always worded properly with proper punctuation haha.

'Could of' Instead of 'Could've' or 'Could have' that's annoying.

Look at you all, trying not to make a spelling mistake whilst you post ;)

i crap at spelling and have to read over everything a good few times but as they say US BAD SPELLERS OF THE WORLD UNTIE :D :D

Too tires for sale, plenty of thread.

No mate, you have two tyres for sale, with plenty of tread. Grrrrr

I also hate it when people use 'woz' instead of was, it doesn't even save any time, they're both three letters!!! And the letters W, A and S are all in a nice little triangle on the keyboard!

I've been holding off starting a thread like this but someone's done it for me, well done that man!
