6x9's and why to AVOID them

Featured Replies

When fitted to a stealth shelf they are, however, perfectly fine for people like me who couldn't give two fucks about top quality audio in their car.

If I want really high quality sound, I'll sit in front of my £2k home separates system and enjoy that.

Quite frankly, with road noise, engine noise and rattles not to mention that you're surrounded by glass it's not like you're making the most of expensive speakers by fitting them in a car.

I'm quite happy with my 6x9s and wanky cheap amp. They do the trick to a high enough quality for me to enjoy my music in my car.

Just my 2p.

that did make me chuckle..so true tho! my mk3 gt rattles like a beast, when its idling! so yeah, i recon if u just want some tunes then bolt in a set of 6x9's..and if you want showcar matierial then spend some dollar

  • I've got a set in my truck and they're fine for my uses. That's mainly because I listen to music, not a repeating bass loop with some bird singing the same line over and over again. Personally, I fi

I strongly disagree 6x9 are good quality and sound good as look as you don't do a DIY job it costs more but you get better results

1985 car with bike carbs here, there aint much point in paying into the posh ice industry for heavily marketed bullshit i aint gonna be able to appreciate. I realise that people outside the car dont wanna hear my shit and i respect this because I'm not an attention seeker. And my car is not so boring to drive that i have a void for live sound quality.

Cheap pair of 6x9s with a cheap CD player is gonna be enough to keep passengers entertained. The cones of my ten year old Sony X-plod 6x9s are very rigid with a folded rim that helps keep the bass sharp after years of abuse.

The CD player isn't worth a fiver, but its 4x50w which is why its finally won its place over the fantastically retro but horribly toned and weakly amp'd '80s twist'n'fart cassette deck. The 6x9s are worth less than the windscreen wipers, too.

I realise the topic is for Audi TT's etc and not 25yo go-karts,but telling us all that 6x9s are crap was never gona be taken well.

Omg i cant believe i just spent an hour an a half reading a completely uncreditable arguement about a preffered speaker choice!!?!!! I must be ill! P.s my hardcore 4" cheap coaxials in my gaffa tape covered doorpods are fine up to 3000rpm then after that i cant hear shit coming from any direction!!
