did a bit more on it today, pretty much got the drivers side front suspension set up to the same stage as the passenger side. both the front rams have the steering arms on them just gotta get them welded in place now.

cant remember exactly mate but I'm sure the arms have a slight angle on them when the struts are straight. its to do with the ackerman steering principle. which is the charateristics of wheels towing in and out around corners as the wheels will be travelling different speeds and different angles when cornering.

you've lost me mate lol, when you say angle do you mean angle as in the sort of angle that controls the tracking? (like the wheel would be straight but the arm will be as if it was turned slightly?), if so would that not be corrected when i got the tracking done if it was out?

you steering arms need to be at the correct angle. nothing to do with tracking really mate - this is what you need to start with as it defines the characteristics of the steering not just making the wheels straight mate.

oh - i have got some spare G40 suspensions struts in my garage actually so you can just come and copy the angle mate lol.

that sounds like a much easier way of doing it mate, the steering arms are nice and tight on the rams so i could knock them into position ready to be welded up

would i be able to pop over some time tomorrow to have a look mate? also is it still ok to have that exhaust you were on about?

paid a visit to the main man kiz today who sorted out my steering arm angles for me and gave me the last part i need to finish off my exhaust, cheer's mate you've been a massive help

i've finally got round to fitting the rear rams to the car, this is them at full height

and all the way down

with thinner wheels it would go lower at the back but i like the powertechs and the way they sit, besides it would just have some shitty reverse rake going on then so would look shit.

combination of shit weather, over time at work and running low on money to get more parts has brought me to a bit of a standstill

i've got an interior lined up which i'm hoping to be able to collect this weekend. the front rams are now finished and fitted, just need to slap some hammerite on them and find a golf top mount in my box of parts. the exhaust i got off kiz just needs the center box chopping off and it welding back together where it's been cut in the past. the rest of the hydro stuff needs roughly fitting in so i can see where to cut the holes needed for the hoses and to mock up how i'll be mounting the pump ect.

all jobs i hope to get done this weekend weather permitting. i've put my scirocco up for sale as well and got a few people very interested in it so if that goes i'll be replacing most of the front running gear as the ball joints and cv boots are split. if it don't sell i'll still be replacing all this just not this week

i've set the end of the month as the dead line for getting this on the road which i don't think is unrealistic atm lol

not had much spare time recently, my weekends have been filled with b-day's, bbq's and stag doo's so progress has been slow to say the least

so far i've got the exhaust sorted just need to make a new hanger for it because with this being a mk3 polo there is no longer one on the car

all the ram's are fitted to the car i just have to get some rubbers for the bottom of the rear one's, i've loosely wired the pump up and started cutting the holes ready for the hydraulic hoses to go through. i've booked tomorrow off work so i can have a good go at it with out some form of party getting in the way.

i've stocked up on cleaning products as well, i've been itching to polish it for weeks but wanted to hold back until the main mechanical bit's were done, now it's almost there i can finally get it buffed up

then it's just a case of finding some spare money to get it on the road which is my sticking pint atm, hoping to have it ready for polo show
