Id actually bum guy for an Elise

On the other hand i wouldnt even think about bumming a guy for an MX5, let alone actually doing it, i dont care how good they are to drive

I reckon the MX5 could be completely taken out of the equation and you'd still contemplate anal intercourse with a man.

a bloke started work at my place the other week (bare in mind it's just your common smallish engineering firm full of lads), and he drives a bright red lotus elise. He has had the piss taken out of him constantly for it, having his sexuality called into question most of the time and the rest of the time being asked if he wares leather under pants

no one really seems to care how good it actually is, maybe because this is the real world where most people don't know or care about cars? they have an opinion of this sort of car and the sort of men that drive them and they are very vocal in voicing it lol. Maybe he goes on forums and is treated like a god for the amazing car he drives, but for 8.5 hours a day 5 days a week he is 'leather pants', the man that drives a 'ladies shoe' while 'cruising for young boys to bum'

he was telling one of the lads that it does 60 in 4.5 and tops at 160mph. I don't know much about lotus, but it didn't seem any where near that quick when he gave it some beans up the road the other day?

If he's bragging about its performance (pretty sure it doesn't do 160mph, an Exige only does 149mph) then I'm not suprised he's getting stick for it. And the Lotus jacket, that's terrible.

Probably if he didn't big himself up so much he would get less griefing, although he would still get some.

If its a S1 then top speed is something like 120-130mph and 0-60 is 6ish secs.. And the jacket is fine... if he worked work Lotus!

Can agree with this to a degree. My mate got one, i immediately then thought he was a fag. Took me for a spin in it and i was taken aback. Just before he wrote it off.

Still a gay car though. As are all convertibles.

Insurance for young drivers lol? MX5's are dirt cheap to insure, can't say the same about 200SX's!

I love this!! there are some cool like J-euro look mx-5s around, that is the ONLY time they are acceptable!

only cheap ones seem to be the 1.6 version, which from i hear are abit of a let down

depends, the early/imported 110bhp ones aint bad

I've heard the later mk1s are 90bhp = fail

Mine's the 1.8 130bhp, didn't cost me a lot. I've had to remove bits of interior and fit my other wheel to even close the door, but it's very good fun. Being big i probably look even more of a idiot, oh well. Probably staying pretty standard, its not too slow really - maybe modded induction so i can actually hear the engine.

The 1.6's are not really any slower in my experience, they are a bit lighter, i'd buy either and not worry about it.
